Sling Box owners rejoice!

Great to know! Original slingbox owner here too. This is the only thing I've missed about windows mobile. I hope the beta gets leaked soon.

It doesn't appear as though a leak is possible. It's a pretty involved process to get the download. Plus you have to have proper privileges to be able to login and use it.

There is a knowledgebase article on Sling's website that addresses the current functionality surrounding transferring licenses. There isn't any information up there for the Android version... but hopefully it's similar. I bought the software directly from Sling before so I'm hoping that I will be able to change my WinMo version into a Android version... never had to worry about this since they didn't release a version for my BB Storm. Of course if they don't offer the software in their Sling Store then this is probably a lost cause.

Sling Media Support - Did you replace your handheld and get a new one? Want to know if you can transfer your registration?

Does anyone know what kind of data usage we can expect using this app? Maybe the amount of data used per hour of watching? Thanks.

You can configure bandwidth...current mobile players run between 100Kbs - 500Kbs. FWIW, I monitored my Skype video call, which hovered around 200Kbs, and a 5min call transmitted 4MB down, and 3MB up.

Another question in terms of hardware. If I only plan on using sling player with mobile devices (HTC Incredible) is it worth getting the ProHD model or should the Solo model be sufficient?

I have Slingbox Solo and it works great. Im not sure the HD model is necessary if you're only gonna use it on DInc. Great investment! Man I want the App so bad, would love to watch the Finals in the park tonight....

Why would the HD model be necessay? The solo puts out 1080i via component, but the Inc is not 1080i. The 1080i may come in handy if you are watching via a laptop (w/HDMI out to HDTV) or PC. The best thing to do is check your cable/Sat box to see what outputs you have available.

I use HDMI output from my DishNet STB, and use the component connection to feed the slingbox. Audio is from a pair of RCAs from the STB analog ports.

FWIW, the solo has (2) component "in" and can manage (2) different devices at the same time (STB and DVD player for example).

hes only using on a DInc.

Awesome! Loved the Slingbox app on my iPod Touch. It would be great to get it on the DInc, too. I just have to get my Sling working right again. The network light is always blinking, and I've ruled out everything, but the box itself. May have to replace it (an older AV model).

I just received this email newsletter from Sling:

btw, OT, but has anone played Air Control? this game rules, really addictive for such a simple game. HIGHly recommend.

LOVE this game haha. I did just grab the SNESoid, NESoid & GENSoid emulators so I haven't played it in a bit. I recommend those too

Was doing some searches for any news on the Slingplayer and came across a site that had the BETA apk file for download. It was a rapidshare file and I'm not a member. Has anyone downloaded this and tried using it on the DInc? This would help A LOT of ppl if its real. Just to hold us over for the real thing.

This may not be the place to ask, But I'm hoping for an answer anyways.

I've been reading/lurking in the forums for quite some time, I'm up for my New every Two upgrade in 2 months, and have already decided on the DINC.

My question is in regards to slingbox. Does it only allow you to view programs from your cable box? The reason I ask is because my favorite football team is never aired where I live, would I be able to access the games from Slingbox, or is it only for programs that your box itself receives?

Slingbox relays your cable box to your phone. You can do anything you would do on your cable box on your phone, DVR, Ondemand, Live sport/shows. Its the best $200 one time fee i've ever paid. I use my Dinc with PDAnet to get internet on Laptop, then on Laptop i use Slingplayer to watch my TV. But soon we will have the app to view directly on our DInc's!!!!

But no it does not allow you to watch blacked out area games. Just whatever is on your cable.

Just some added info, the "Sling Solo" box (least expensive):

- Will push out HDTV resolution to any PC via a browser, or PC app, as well as the phone apps (phone res. will be lower, but you can still view HD channels)

- Will work with many cable/sat providers (Comcast, Verizon, DishNet, DTV, etc)

- Will allow you access to PPV, and content on DVR, and allow you to connect a DVD/Blu-Ray player "in addition" to cable/sat box

- Whatever you see while watching you TV (menus, shows, etc) is shown on the phone/browser/app...sling is just an ext of your TV and remote control.

- Sling Solo unit can be found for $140-$150 online, or on sale.

- DishNetwork has a STB (VIP922) with built-in sling capability, and is same $15/mo as the dual tuner VIP622...I'd opt for a stand alone unit however, but w/the 922, one can watch one channel via the STB and TV, while someone else watches a different channel via sling.
