Root Slow boot times after rooting

I successfully rooted last weekend and am so happy with the 100+ meg I now have free even though I downloaded a ton more apps. But I needed to reboot the other day and it took 5 minutes just to get the the home screen. Today, it was 3+ minutes...And then it has to prepare the SD card.

Is this a normal byproduct of rooting?

I don't know about a byproduct of rooting but I feel it has more to do with the program(s) used to gain more space, such as Link2SD, which I use. I have a rooted phone and it does take me around 5 minutes to boot the phone. It also could be a function of having more apps on the phone and more apps that are initializing or checking for updates during bootup. I am not sure what is the cause but I do see the long boot up.

It is the combination of more apps needing to be found by the system, and the longer time to access them from your sdcard.

Since you are rooted, you can try running the tweaks from this thread, helps me. And depending on the ROM you use, a different kernel may help, especially ones that overclock on boot. A faster sdcard is always an option too.

I have 118 apps and 71 system apps, and the phone boots up and is useable within 1 1/2 minutes, but the apps are not all accessible for another 2 to 2 1/2 minutes.

I've noticed that since rooting, it is now 3+ minutes for boot, but the apps seem to be ready relatively soon after the home screen appears. Prior to rooting, the boot was faster to home screen, but it still seemed to take a few minutes for the apps to be ready from the home screen. So perhaps overall, it isn't too different...just a difference in what the phone shows while you are waiting...with root, it spends a long time at the Android screen.
