Root SMS back up

there must be a simple answer but I couldn't find it. is there a way to back up all your sms messages before wiping and flashing a new rom?

Since you are rooted, just do nand back up.

1. Use the app to backup messages
2. Backup the file (sdcard/SMSBackupRestore/"messagebackupfile.xml") to dropbox and or computer
3. Flash ROM
4. Install app
5. Replace file from your computer and or dropbox (back into sdcard/SMSBackupRestore/"messagebackupfile.xml")
6. Go into app and restore messages

This is exactly what i use for keeping my messages when switching roms/wiping phone/....anything else i need to restore text messages..?

It takes seconds to backup, but when restoring, it takes a good 5-10 minutes depending on how many messages you have.. lol

Reinstall the app and hit restore. It'll find the file the first one created on your SD card and restore your msgs.

Nope, that's all your going to need. I think that the time taken restoring the messages is a very small price to pay for being able to transfer messages across ROMS. The app does exactly what it says it does. Nothing more and nothing less.

I use MyBackup Pro to back everything up. SMS, MMS, phonebook, apps. It does everything but freeze apps. That is where Titanium comes in.

I guess, but I am used to Backup Pro. Nothing against Titanium.

Titanium is flaky with SMS backup. It supposedly works, but not all the time (even after a reboot). I gave up on it for SMS backup.

I recently had to replace my brother's EVO. SMS backup is a great way to go, however, Handcent offers a solution as well. Both worked for us. SMS backup worked so well I helped make a video about it.
