Hi, I just bought a HTC Evo 3d 3g sprint phone and I have a couple of questions to all you pro's out there.

#1- Task Killer- I understand that it closes an app or process but the question i have it, if i want to get the app/process running again do i simply click on the icon to open it and then it will work again?

#2- Texting- when I send a text i am being told by the receipient that they are only seeing like the last 2-3 setences of the whole message. This is even happening on other HTC EVO 3d 3g phones that I send texts to. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I am still within my first 30 days, where I have the option to return the phone. do you think I should return it or is there some kind of setting that might fix the problem?

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

You don't need a task killer. Serves almost no purpose on Android. You have a memory manager built in on Sense 3.0 - if it is a recently opened application, you can just pull down the notification bar and open the app from there - otherwise off to the app drawer you go!

As for the text messaging, I think there is a 160 character limit per text. If you exceed it, it will split the messages. I don't think there's actually anything wrong with your phone. You could contact Sprint and get a replacement if you desire but I don't think it would be much use to you. Sounds more like a Sprint network issue.

Thank You NYCHitMan, I really appreciate your help. The only thing I am still concerned about is the texting because some of the messages are not even 160 characters long and yet is still cuts them off. Really frustratiing. I dont lile have to keep sending the message over, but in smaller pieces. I will talk to sprint about it too. Thank you again for your help! :)

Regarding the texting issue... it may just be a temporary outage or issue on Sprint's end. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about downtime or missed texts in recent months - not sure what's going on. I've experienced network issues in two different states in the last two months, too. I'm not sure why only part of your message is coming up, but I'd wait a few days and see if it continues...

And don't use a task killer, Android is not Windows Mobile. Plus, the EVO 3D has enough memory and Android has proper management functions to do whatever you want without worrying about lag. :)

There is a lot of debate about wether or not task killers are needed on android. I am definitely in agreeance with others that the evo3d has enough memory to run stuff, but at the same time iv expierienced some apps that wouldnt close in the backround and caused a battery leak (not litterally but made it continuously use battery) so i tend to use advanced task killer to avoid that. I use it a lot less due to the bigger ram from my hero to my evo 3d. But i still like to kill all apps on a boot up when all apps are open in the background, and just here or there periodocally throughout the day to avoid battery drainage. Good luck with your new phone :)

All and @OP,

lets focus on the sms issue the op is experiencing. the task killer discussion has its own thread that i encourage the OP to read, its here:

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/362038-memory-task-management.html

focus and discuss any task killer tidbits there. However, as others have stated OP, a task killer is not needed and not recommended. Again smoke over the above thread and discuss there.

I have altered your thread title to speak about your issue of the SMS messages. Lets all keep the discussion here related to this issue, just to prevent the thread from covering to many topics.

Thanks all for your help on this.
