Root SMS sound not working...

I am not getting an sms tone for some reason what I did was created my own notification tone and put it on my sd card I used it for awhile got tired of it and wanted to go back to a stock tone but nothing works i get no sound does anyone know why?

first off what rom are you on?

second so none of the sounds are working? so you go to settings>sounds> then select sound. none of them are working?
