Root So how do you like Gingerbreadon the prevail??

SO yeah I went ahead and updated using Odin and so far other than a minor Android Market issue I experienced, I think it certainly does run much smoother and (at least on my phone) battery life as well as actual 3g signal seems to be much stronger as well. SO far so good I would say. Of course I cant forget the nicely updated UI which I love. I swear though it would be nice having battery percentage to be able to see how much of a charge is left. Overall All I do like it so far and was curious what everyone elses thoughts, opinions, and experiences have been so far. Soooooo drop a reply.

Regards.:D

I went ahead and installed GB on my phone, I too think it runs smoother, and faster than Froyo. I like it alot so far. The 3G connects way faster. I use Battery Solo Widget to show the battery strength. Using 3D Live Wallpapers to dress up the background (Live Fire Flys).

I installed Odins rooted Gingerbread and very happy with the results. Netflix works(laggy thought), uverse on demand videos now work, I can use skype with my bluetooth headset (not sure if its because of GB or skype updated it). Runs pretty smooth so far. Not sure about the battery life, I haven't had much time to test it out.

Skype 2.0+ is only available on android 2.3+
HD playback is varied but should be ruled as a no go.
Froyo was decent. GB is slight bit better...but nothing AMAZING...we reached the farthest we could with the hardware(its old)

I am loving my Gingerbread, but I am a hardcore Swype user...and the version that comes with GB is old and clunky.

I've tried removing the apk and odex from the /system/app folder, and removed the .so from the /system/lib directory and installed the new version, but it FC's every time I try it.

Other than that, everything is working great.

Anyone had luck with Swype?

yes, I have been using the newest beta for a while. how have you been installing the beta?
I found that removing the installer would sometimes cause FC's on the actual swype.

I am experiencing slow 3g speeds. Not sure if there is a setting messed up but i cannot update my profile or prl. I am using Odins Rooted version.

New Optimus: It seems to be working now...don't know what happened...maybe a few reboots or something, but now Swype Beta is working great.

Just lucky I guess.

I love the new beta, and the not quite so new beta was very nice too. They seem to be getting better and better.:D

I got gingerbread on my phone, that alone was awesome. My phone just seemed more responsive. I added CtMod 2.0. and I cant tell you how quick and snappy my phone is. Its better than ever. I didn't think That this phone could ever be this good.

I also updated to GB love the new look (dial pad), my wifi speed is alot faster and I just started converting videos to watch in my car (using the JVC kwnt30hd) thanks to artifactz how to post.
