Are replacing their iPod with their EVO? I know for one that using doubletwist, and buying a bigger microSD card I can now get rid of my iPod if I want to. I have the 32gb touch, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it to keep it around? Thoughts?
 
I have an 8 gig Touch that I no longer use, I sync using Easy Phone Tunes and stick to Pandora, Last.fm, and Slacker.

Keep it. The Evo won't touch the iPhone/iPod in pure sound quality and Android certainly has a way to go before it's even decent at music management.

This is the reason that I still use my first gen 30gb Zune. Well, the sound quality, not the music management. I do all my managing on the computer and have no issues navigating on my phone.
 
I've been trading off using Ipod touch and the Evo...sound quality is just better on the touch in my car but battery life blows on the touch so Evo is much more reliable.
 
Here is a perfect example of why you should have both. We have a built in home sound system throughout our whole house. I keep my touch plugged in to the stereo all the time and use my EVO for everything else. So my touch sits in a little room and the EVO goes everywhere. I still have a lot of music on my EVO for when I want to listen to music with my headphones if I'm away from home. I don't put all my music on the EVO because I use slacker on my phone a lot. Accept slacker hasn't been the greatest since the froyo update so I unistalled it until they get the problem fixed. I would hate it If I had to leave my EVO plugged in and not be able to use it while listening to music.
 
Count me in; I have to fly at least twice a week and used to listen to my 3G iPod Touch en route, but since getting my EVO and buying the paid Mixing app (and I already had a 16GB SD from before in my Moment) and some BT noise-cancelling headsets, I don't even turn on the iPod any more; it just sits unused in my laptop case. I just turn off the 3G/CDMA radio with the "Network" app when aboard and I'm all set.

I can only hope that the Android platform gains near-parity with the number of iPhone apps; while I can see small developers choosing one or the other, it makes no sense that F500 companies don't have Android apps yet.
 
The iPod has better sound quality. I have a 16gb card in my phone and it is loaded with music, but I use my iPod almost always.

Heh. I have to admit I was really happy when the Slingplayer showed up (and having already bought it for the Treo a while back, prepared for the $30! price tag) but the more, the merrier!
 
I'm still using my old iPhone as an iPod ...LOL ...since it has better sound quality. Also, one of my favorite games is only available for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

However, I do have Doubletwist installed and keep some tunes synced on my EVO. :)

In the car you won't be able too, unless you have a good system AND you utilize the line-out doc on the iPod which is much cleaner than the headphone output on the Evo.

I haven't bought a CD in over 10 years. I don't even listen to .mp3s anymore. 1gig, 8gig, 32gig, the storage is irrelevant for music. Movies and apps, yes, but not music.

Streaming FTW.
 
Most of you guys using iPod ear buds are cheating yourself with sound quality to begin with... I highly doubt most of us here are audiophiles to the point where you have more expensive speaker systems than cars we drive... So honestly speaking the EVO is good enough as a music player... I use it a lot in speaker mode at work when I'm up and about in the warehouse... Works great... Louder than the other Android phones I've heard so far which also means louder ring tones...

I have an iPod Classic 160GB that's just being used as an external HD right now... I have about 80GB of music / videos on there and don't even touch it... The EVO outside of having horrific battery does so much I don't need another system... For when I really want to listen to good quality music I have my computer and that usually suits me fine...

As I'm typing this I'm using my pretty decent headphones on the EVO and really it's good enough for any application of music listening... And I use to be one to paper compare audio stuff... So I really don't see the attraction that is the iPod anymore, that's so 2001 - 2009...

P.S. With my headphones I can actually hear the difference in SQ and the classic is a LOT better, but really it isn't THAT great that it's worth carrying around LOL...
 
Evo disappointed me with everything music, such a badass phone then you get to the music player total let down, i mean would it kill them to throw some coverflow out way. Thats one thing I love about my ipod album art flow and the quality
 
Coverflow was so slow in my experience that I never used it, and if you're really looking for a song coverflow was the worst way to find it... It looks great I agree, but when it comes to music it adds nothing new... Bloatware...

Album covers do great for recognition, but I still use list view every chance I get just because it's so much faster... To each their own tho...

As for all the people that say Android has bad music management though, did you guys actually use your iPods / iPhones? I still have artists sorting all wrong, compliations got a bit better but it's still a mess... It really depends on how you tag your digital music... I find the iPod times worst than Mixzing on the EVO... Mixzing still shows artist as A and B, but at least they handle the same dir as the same album for crying out loud...

My computer and old school winamp had better sorting of music LOL...
