Root SO I just installed GingerVillain...

Android Enthusiast
...and I love it. I espescially like the Android with the HAL-esque eyes!

I has loads of great features, and it's looking like a winner for me.

Well, at least it was until I tried to add my corporate Exchange email account:
"This server requires security features that your phone does not support"

Digging a bit deeper, it seems that CM-baed ROMs do not support all (or even many) of Exchange's security policies, so I'm stuffed.

Yes, I could bypass them and risk the sack, but don't really want to do that. Besides, I see it as an extra bonus that I can phone my IT helpdesk and ask them to wipe the phone, or that it will do it itself after 8 failed PIN attempts.

So I suppose I'll have to wait until GB is officially released for the Desire (but I won't hold my breath), and go back to FroYo for now.

Or just not bother getting my work email on the phone...

Hard choice

I did see that hopefully some policies would be supported soon in the next release (CM8?) so I'll keep my eyes open.

Thanks, will have a look about.

For now, though I'm looking for stability, and I would imagine that these aren't quite there yet.

Anyway, for now I've made my choice. GV it is.

I really don't need to get my work email on my phone, it was just convenient. I'll manage without for now.

If you go to the sticky here there is a link to the xda sticky that contains all the good Roms, categorised. Always use that as your resource for Roms.

so this is a work phone? security is already compromised if you are rooted :/

Nooo, it's my phone. Good point though.

Thanks, that's where I was looking. Just as I'm new to all this, it is difficult to distinguish one from t'other.
