theres a glimmer of hope, a verizon chat rep just told me its rolling out this afternoon
 
i noticed that there are always conflicting verizon rep posts. I always want to believe the one that said a positive thing. Maybe u should call back again and talk to a diff rep to see what they say. They are prob getting bombarded by questions all day today about this update and maybe they are saying what people want to hear.
 
I just went to my local hometown verizon store (In Iowa) and had a friend go to the store where I bought it (Omaha, Nebraska) and got the same result. They had no idea when and if an update is coming. Don't you think the people working would have some idea at VZW that an update was coming in the near future?

I don't foresee this update coming for weeks and or months people. Then again what do I know? I have major issues with battery drainage (some days battery lasts an hour or two after charge!!! some days it lasts from 7:30-4). Glitch in the text messaging service, lots of freezing even if delete regularly. I also go a few days without a reboot then BAMMM 10-15 reboots a day for a few days sucking more battery life out of my phone on every reboot.

Time for an update to address this problem or time for a new phone and or some sort of legal action for defective product.
 
The earliest we'll see it is in September... trust me, I should know (as everyone else claims)

If I were a CSR or Sales Rep at Verizon I would say all kinds of things to see the reaction and if it make headlines on the blogs. Do you know how funny/annoying it must be to get these phone calls all the time?
 
I guess the longer it takes to hit the phones (in Sept for instance) the less chance it brings more bugs and issues with it right?!........
 
I just got off the phone with both verizon and HTC. The Verizon rep said Verizon has not been informed of an update of any kind from HTC.

The rep from HTC said it's coming, but they don't know when... but soon.

Neither Verizon or HTC seem too concerned about this issue. This was both my first and last HTC phone. Not a happy camper!
 
HAAAAAAAAA i swear it gets more and more positive everytime i see the post updates.

As to what Stillacthang said. I would like to see them take their time with this update. All this phone needs is another thing for people to bash it about. Then it makes me wonder how long they really have been working on this update since i suspect that this was planned before the last OTA update went out. Then i guess they had to add the whole random reboot thing on the update. So to me it looks like they are just getting all the bugs out before the roll out happens.
 
I just spoke to Vz tech support and he transferred me to someone @ " check". He said not today but maybe after the 4th. So, It's anyone's guess @ this point..
 
People you are worrying for nothing. You are expecting something that was rumored and for all you know the person that said I had a Verizon rep tell me that it was being released could of made it up for a good laugh. Verizon has never really set a date. They just say soon. Your crying now about bugs but yet you would rather they rush and get you gingerbread thats not ready so you can complain some more about how they shouldnt have released it if it wasnt ready.

You have 4 options

1. You can root and then you have gingerbread.

2 You can ask for a different phone beings you cant stand the bugs with this one.

3 You can do the leaked RUU update which many including myself has said it fixes the random reboot.

4. If you wont do any of the 3 I have suggested. THen stop complaining as I am sure many like me are tired of the many threads like this one. So sit there quietly. It will come when its ready. THis is just like on the Moto Droid section when we was suppose to get froyo and dates came and went. People cried every single time. They said we want froyo now and all it gave us was live wallpaper and I think pinch to zoom.

SO stop with these pointless threads. They solve nothing and the mods should erase every single thread like this one. Including all the ones that says I heard a release date. WHen they have no proof to back them up.

That's the most obvious statement anyone could say... basically "it's not happening this weekend and could happen any time thereafter with no real date in sight"

Follow Dark Jedi's advice and stop caring about this update, please. There are other options or get a new phone. Or wait and be pleasantly surprised when it shows up one day and you weren't checking these boards like a crackhead waiting for some hint of the OTA (I admit I'm guilty of this)...

I don't think I'm going to check back on the OTA until September, which when I seriously believe it will finally land.

Last time i checked it was a free country dude. If you don't like people talking about such topics, then don't read em, that simple. Grow up. You yelling at someone wastes just as much time as the original post, no?
 
I just wanted to hear if the rumors were true. Sorry I was being optimistic.

But these posts trolling about the update, especially faking photos of the OTA, really make me sad about this board.

Wow, Dark Jedi gave solutions for people who are dying to get the update for on reason for another, posts stating "I called VZW and they said..." give no help in this topic, asking a VZW rep is about as helpful as asking a magic 8 ball. Then people like you flame the most helpful post in the thread! Why don't you skip the having to use a forum and just text yourself "Still no update" every quarter hour or so?

All I really want is Skype Video... I have no issues with my TB other than a less than ideal battery life. Never had a reboot.

I want Skype Video and Im fine with Go Launcher
 
I agree with the threads with people lying/trying to get people worked up about fake updates. Close that shit like the plague. But otherwise, people helplessly need to vent somewhere :). Might as well let this be their shrine.

Just download the .apk man. I've been using skype on the tbolt for the past 2 months now. Works flawlessly.
 
I would think the topic is still active as it is still June 30th, if you are going to call the topic dead then it was dead as soon as it was posted...but I am for locking this thread

Not everyone lives in America you do realize?:rolleyes: Plus the freedoms of one country does not pertain to a message board. Just thought I would let you in on this secret. ;)
 
What I worry about is the " you know how it's going to play out" When the gingerbread update comes out it could be full of problems. Seems like each update the phone has bigger problems. This isn't just with the Tbolt , but smartphones in general. I remember when the Samsung Fascinate finally got Froyo after almost a year of crying...The Eclair 2.1 was much better for the Fascinate than the Froyo. To the point I sold my Fascinate and got a Tbolt. I might just hold on to my Froyo for awhile before jumping into Gingerbread. The touch sensitivity on the Tbolt isn't to bad, but it could be better. I hear Gingerbread scrolling is different than Froyo. You know how you run your finger across the screen real quick and let go it keeps scrolling on it's own? I hear GB doesn't do this. So if the touch sensitivity on the phone isn't that of Samsung or Apple I think you would want this type of scrolling with a quick swipe across your screen vs it just stopping. Makes sense.
