Root So Long Sprint....

argedion

The TechnoFrog
I am Leaving the Sprint network and going over to Verizonwireless. It has been 7 years that I've been with Sprint and the lack of signal and service has left me no choice but to move on.

It was not an easy decision but one that had to be made. I get lousy signal here in St'Marys. I have to have an Airave at the house in order to get a decent signal and really it boils down to being tired of paying 200 dollars a month for unlimited service when I can't get it. I'm not getting a better phone to start out with but should be better signal (From what I've been told still crappy service  ). Oh well what is one to do.

I bid you all the best of luck with Sprint and Your EVO's I'll still be hanging around the forums I mean after all I am a Guide here. Catch me in the lounge ;)

FYI, you can flash your LTEvo to Verizon.......I've been with Boost for 4 years and had the same issues with poor signal outside of cities, recently switched to VZW prepaid and so far it's been great!

If you choose to forego the flashing option, what device do you plan on getting?

Kind of too bad big red isnt getting the HTC One (M7)

well good luck with the flash. i'm glad you will be stickying around. i was on the ropes about 6 months or so ago, but they just added some new towers here in LA. Still no lte yet though:(

Thats just it they are always doing something but not getting me a better signal and really just can't justify 200 a month for basic phone service with perks here and there. I was thinking of waiting but really wait for what to finally get what I have been paying for. Just for it to be outdated and no longer compatable with the newest wave of phones that will support 87x? ( THERE IS NO 87x I made it up but you should get my point people  )

When I called to see how much the payoff was on all three of my phones I got a price and have a nice day. No well we see you've been a long time costomer why are you making this kind of inquirery or anything It's like they dont really care and honestly I gave them to much money to not really care. But maybe that is just me and my way of thinking.

Are the speeds everything we've dreamed of?

I only get 3g right now in my area but its pretty fast and its everywhere. With sprint if I was in a building forget it no signal. I am however finding that I get a good signal pretty much everywhere I've gone. Before it was hit and miss. I'm kinda of wishing I had switched sooner. It's nice to walk and talk and not look like a mime in a box :p

I hear ya! When I was on Boost, it was very hard to get any signal inside buildings, and rural areas just sucked for Boost. I don't have 4G on VZW prepaid yet, but at least I have a signal and VZW's 3G speeds are 3-6 times faster than Boost's 3G in our area....

Grrr, I was hoping you could get that El Tevo flashed over. :(

It's all good homie, I hope the new service works well. :)

I seriously thought about flashing it over however I decided that I would honor the companies and just get a Verizon phone. I love my EVO but was already thinking of replacing it for a Galaxy Nexus. Seems big red really don't like rooters which is ok for the normal person :p

I am still going to hang out (can't rid of me that easily) I just wont be able to answer some of the newer questions or get to play with the most awesome ROM out (LOTK PacMan) however I have to make sacrifices for a good signal so shall it be.

I tried the gnex for a few days before reselling it. Battery life was less than stellar compared to what im used to on the ltevo.

That screen uses a ton of power. Granted, they can also use removable batteries

Well I ordered the Motorola Droid Razr M and it is scheduled to be here monday. The Lucid is a great phone with exception of the battery life. I've read a lot of good things about the M seems the biggest con is the camera which I rarely use anyways.

I have to say since the switch I have yet to drop a call nor have I had any signal issues with data. So far I am liking the big red network. Just miss my friends and my PacMan. Maybe I can talk Jamie into getting a Razr M so he can put pacman on it :D

For the interested. I have gotten the Motorola Razr M and I have to say that I like it after the first 24 hours. I have already rooted said device and am enjoying it. I haven't bothered with a custom ROM or Recovery. Did some app freeze's using titanium and am very pleased with battery life. It's a bit smaller than the evo but its every bit the screen evo has.
