I couldnt help but notice the Moto Droid is at Best Buy for $99.99 if you get a 2 year contract. My contract is up completely. And im already paying the same smart phone monthly payments.

Could I hypothetically renew a 2-year contract, get the subsidized phone, sell it online for a few hundred, and then reactivate my old smart phone on the plan?

I must be missing something here. That just sounds too easy..
 
I believe you have to keep the phone activated on your line for 30 days, otherwise they will charge the full price to your account.

Also keep in mind if you do that, you will have to use your old phone for another 2 years, unless you want to pay full price for another phone
 
People do it all the time with the iPhone on AT&T. I almost did it to get a Nexus but did not want a 2-year contract.
 
Oh....well geez....now I feel slow lmao. Thanks for the answers! Seems im quite late to the party.

No worries about the 2 year contract. Im on a family plan with a bunch of old people. ALL of our contracts are up and trust me, these old people are keeping their jitter bugs and crazy old devices. :p
 
You could always try to save more money by getting a plan w/o a contract?

It might save you more over the two years than what you would make by selling a Droid.

If he plans on keeping the service for 2 more years anyways, how exactly would he save anything?
 
Because he could negotiate a cheaper rate on his monthly plan.

Apparently this is a very common tactic on other carriers. It is at least something to look into first.
