Thanks to all, on these Sprint Hero Forums, for helping me keep my Hero going strong and delaying the inevitable but I broke down and got an Evo. My wife is due in the next couple weeks with our second and the features on the Evo were just too good. So..........again I just want to say thank you to all:D Hopefully I put forth some helpful information and pointed people in the right direction and without all of you, I would still be stuck on 2.1. Now I'm just stuck on 2.2:rolleyes: but soon I will do some homework and have some fun again flashing roms. Man, it's fun:D:D:D:D

Thanks to all:):(:D

Awww, damn! I hope you will come back and visit. :(

You are one of the MVP's around here, andygu3, and will be missed. Congratulations on your new Sprint HTC EVO 4G and kid though! :)

Wow, what a loss for the Hero community! I always put a lot of stock in your posts. I am amazed at the time and commitment you put in.

I have to ask... Why EVO and not Epic or Shift???

Andy I hope you will still be around as you have beem more than helpful to us here, it is because of you and MHC that I finally rooted my phone, without you guys here I would have probably stayed on 2.1 and may have upgraded by now. Well enjoy your new toy as I am sure most of us will follow in your footsteps soon, but I really want to mention how you have been so helpful to members here and that your knowledge goes without saying, thanks again and see you on the other side soon one day, and goodluck and congrats on the future new edition to the family

IMO the Evo is much better than the Epic, and the Epic well enough said slide out keyboard, LOL ;)

Just having fun with the rooting process and hopefully I gave some good information:)

Never looked into the Epic, imo, still being stuck on 2.1 was a downer. We already went through the slow update with the Hero, fortunately root is here. But I felt sticking with HTC was in my best interest

I wanted the Shift. With root just found and bcnice already with a rom and being overclocked to 1.5Ghz, the sky might be the limit with overclocking that thing, as it's similar to the G2. But with a 5 megapixel and no FFC, that was a disappointment. Battery life on this thing would have been great

I chose the Evo for the features, 8 megapixels, FFC(forward facing camera), taking pictures and, using Qik/Tango with my wife for baby reasons was a huge plus. Also, we all know the rooting community is going very strong with the Evo, so....... being somewhat comfortable with rooting/recovery/flashing/overclocking..... I felt the positives for the Evo were better for me.

So, those were the steps in making my decision for the Evo, hope that helps;)

I will still be around, just won't be flashing roms much on the Hero anymore:( Giving advice(hopefully good advice) on roms/kernels and such.... was fun:D

Yes if you don't mind, I usually update your GB on once in a while when I know something comes out on the weekend as I know you are busy with the family then and don't check in as much on weekends, but this way you can keep an eye on us still, LOL ;)

I've already welcomed Mr. Andy to evo community. :) Also I'd like to express my gratitude as well, without Andy I'd probably have bricked my Hero after z4root! It's actually exciting that you're comming over to the evo section tho, now there's someone I'm familiar with (somewhat :D ).

Congrats on the new little person, I've got two as well. 6 and 3, girl and boy respectively. Nothing in life is more fulfilling than watching your immortality grow and prosper!

Andy
Just wanted to toss my .02 in, I do a lot more reading than posting , but just wanted to say thanks for all your great informative posts and quick answers to the questions I have asked. Thanks to you and Don and MHC I have gone from a complete noob to helping a great many of my friends "put the root down" as my buddy calls it.
Thanks again
