Sochi Olympics

ocnbrze

DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!
so we have almost 30 days before the Sochi Olympics starts.

are you guys excited? do you care? which sports will you be watching? curling? nordic combine? hockey? figure skating?

for me the only sport i'm of interest is hockey and maybe skiing or the snowboarding events.

nbc plans to air 1,539 hours of it....with both online and live tv.

.....so who is excited?

I love to watch the skating events, and even the skiing is fun, but that will be the limit of my interest in these olympic events.

I find all the events entertaining. Factor in all of the training.. the luck of being the perfect age at the right time... everything on the line... it's a magical time. I love the competition. I'm excited.

i agree, but there are some events that makes me yawn a bit.......curling and the various cross country ski events.

what i can't wait for to see is hockey....i would love to see a repeat of last olympics with Canada and the United States going at it for the gold.

i'm thinking about abut buying the USA hockey jersey.

That's the beauty of the Olympics....there is something for everyone... or just about :)
My wife loves the figure skating. Now for me.. toss a puck down on the ice and really skate. :) I'm all about the faster and more intense competitions.

That being said... curling has a certain calling for me. I enjoy the level of skill it takes to play such a game.

lol you guys and curling.......my friend has taken up curling for fun....even found a place to do it in New York of all places.....LOL

Being Scottish, curling is our only hope of a medal and can`t wait to watch the hockey. Won`t be supporting anyone in particular as GB won`t be there but as long as there are one or two N.Y. Rangers players in the winning team, that`ll do me.
I also enjoy watching the speed skating.
I won`t be watching religiously though like I would the Summer Olympics.

Curling is like a combination of chess and manual dexterity plus some strength and stamina. It looks weird when I first saw it. Then one year, I decided to pay attention to the Tournament of Hearts and Brier (Canadian women's and mens national competition) and figured out the game. I found it pretty interesting starting then. I even got a chance to play a few times. It was much more work and more physically demanding than I thought. My shoulders were so sore from the sweeping. On top of that, I had to play hockey later that evening.

yeah i get all that, but to put it on tv?:boring::D

One really cool thing about watching curling on TV is that you get to hear the discussions about strategy between members of the team. All of the players wear mics. The only thing about the Olympics is that you may not understand the language that the team is speaking because teams are from all over the world.

you had me until you said "curling on tv" and then i fell asleep:p:D

give me speed skating instead of curling and i'm good;)

anybody want to bet on medal count?

i say US, Canada, Russia and China to be in the tops for most medals.

bowling is not a sport:eek::D

and who watches that anyways?

No argument and no idea. :) It does get air time with sponsors commercials and all. My point is.. if bowling.. you have to allow curling. c'mon man.
It might be more exciting than the equestrian summer stuff.. and long boat races.. I mean seriously. And what about that stick throwing thing.. javelin thing? Or the guy spinning in a circle with a ball on his shoulder... what's up with that? Synchronized diving.. don't get me started on that lol.

The winter Olympics is so much more fun than the summer. To me there is a lot of not so exciting stuff in the summer Olympics. I love all the winter stuff. Even the long races on skis seems exciting to me. Mile after mile.. such a lot of work. Unless it's the race where they stop and do a bit of shooting now and then. Not sure about that one. :) I even enjoy the figure skating. If you ever ice skated.. the level of accomplishment is just mind blowing. I love the fast paced ski runs and the toboggans and all of that too. Ice hockey is great be it Olympic or professional. I can live without the snowmobile stuff but it's ok. Love the new exciting snowboard stuff.. wow. I just enjoy the winter stuff... even curling. :)
