Sochi Olympics

Check out this curling clip: 360 Degree Spin with Takeout at 2011 World Curling Champion - Niklas Edin - YouTube

The move was made famous by Jeff Stoughton: American Curler: The Spin-o-Rama

If you want something more interesting (and less real), check out the Men with Brooms movie: Men with Brooms (2002) - IMDb

ok so maybe if we had extreme curling:
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

i might watch it.
:D:D:D

i still vote for extreme curling as an Olympic event.

It's the finesse of a fine shot that just blows me away. There is a great deal of skill to be appreciated. True, it's not fast paced and no fear of broken bones and blood, but it's an amazing competition.

Anyone watching live now? Skating 5,000 meters for men?

Edit: whoohah! A Dutch Hattrick :D:D:D

I may try to catch some events such as bobsledding, some ice skating. Only when I have time to watch. I'm more of a summer games watcher.

I got to watch the men's curling team's opening game today. It brought back memories from the last winter Olympics. Most of the team played in Vancouver so it was fun seeing them again. They are still losing... that was not so fun. :)

Did you see the GB women's rink score that magic seven in a single end today (Tues)? A 'first' for an Olympic competition. :)

My new sporting heroes are the slopestyle competitors. I thought moguls skiers were hardcore, but pulling flips, corkscrews and the like whilst hurtling down an icy hill.... with a plank (or even two!) strapped to your feet? Pure mental.

I watched that seven. I couldn't believe it.. but I saw it.

Forget curling, let's talk hockey! Wtf happened in the Czech Republic/Latvia match? A goal was awarded (after interminable replay consultation) some five minutes after the event, yet the referees allowed a penalty awarded after the goal to stand??? When I left, due to work, there was a full-on gloves-off fight brewing... and no wonder!

That is very cool Kaat. Your village will have to do something special to honor her on her return. It's very special to be in the Olympics and outstanding to medal.

Oh man... that will get the masses stirring. I haven't seen any hockey yet. My work schedule has put a big crimp in my Olympics so far.

Yeah, two times bronze. That is pretty cool, eh? Every one is talking about it, and thinking of a nice way to honor her.

I haven't seen any hockey yet.

I remembered about the Russia/USA match at work, so used the BBC's live stream as a "demo opportunity" on a couple of our display handsets. ;)

What a game! By the time that final penalty hit the net I think we had a dozen punters crowded round watching. :D
