Root Soft Keys not vibrating Evo 4g

My 4 soft keys have not been vibrating even before I rooted. In sound settings, I have checked, unchecked, checked vibration for keys to no avail.
I have cleared cache, dalvik cache via Titanium Backup and cleared caches from recovery to no avail. I've tried batt. pulls, reboots, yelling at it, running around in my underwear with phone, fortune tellers..you get the picture
My vibration for everything else works except for the 4 soft keys.
I have searched for the answer all over....most people dont like it but I do.
Not that it's the end of the world but I like it.

have you tried a different rom. if that does not work it might be hardware related. not sure though. i never really heard of this issue.
