Help Software update.

How can i update software on my galaxy S2. i tried to tap software update in the settings menu. But it says connecting to server and later quits saying unable to connect to server. All this happeneing inspite my wifi and data connection being on. i wanted to know doesnt software updates happen via wifi????

You can download Samsung Kies from SAMSUNG and then connect your SGS2 with a USB cable, it will tell you if your firmware is up to date or if you need to update it and if so, it will do that for you.

but then wats that option called "check updates" for in the settings menu. wen i tap it i can the data connection icons glowing but it says failed to connection to server. this is wen my fone is standalone and not connected to any system

Over-The-Air updates aren't active for the GS2, that's why it doesn't find anything.
