hey guys,

after pluggin my s2 into my laptop samsung kies informed me to update for my phone firmware, so i updated my phone:
from
baseband = ..KE4
to
..KE7
and also the
Kernal version use to say:
...@DELL103 but after the update it says 'DELL101'
and i no longer have the option to change the message skin as the update has removed this feature.

has anyone else had this same issue or can any one help explain whats goin on with the updates

unfortunately its normal. the message themes were removed after KE4.. i upgraded from KE1 to KE7 a couple of months back n i never ever got the chance to use them. lol. sad that they take away good features in updates

Hello and welcome keello.

This may at least explain the loss of SMS customisation...http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...und-white-text-messaging-app.html#post3028298

Can't comment on the kernel question I'm afraid. Does seem odd to downgrade.

Hi guys, I also went thru the update process KE4 - KE7, but I'm now unable to connect to the Market via phone, OR install apps by going to the Market on my pc!!!

Is this an issue for anyone else? I'm getting a white screen for 6secs then phone flicks back to the app drawer.

I've raised the issue on Market help, so we'll see where that goes.

Thanks.

thanks for the feed back, and yea its shame they removed such good app. i'll have to dig deeper and find out why the kernal version decreased.

It didn't, it was compiled on a different computer.

The kernel name includes the "user account@computer name" used to compile it. The actual version identifier is the n.nn.nn.nn string at the beginning.
