Help Software upgrade notification

I already upgraded to ICS but I still receive software upgrade notifications about 7 times a day, kind of annoying. Does anyone know how to deactivate this notification?
The notification reads:
"Congratulations! T-Mobile has sent you a new software update for your device. To proceed with installation, select next."

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum androidrule. :hello:

That's weird. How did you update to ICS?

What does it say in About Phone for Baseband version and Build Number?

If you are rooted you can use Titanium Backup to freeze Device Management. There may be another method but that's the only one I know.

Thanks Atmazzz.
I upgraded ICS using Kies via usb cable.
Baseband version: T989UVLE1
Build number: IML74K.UVLE1

I bought the the phone from a friend so I am not sure if it was rooted or not.
Is there anyway you can determine whether the phone is rooted?
How do I get the phone rooted? (sorry I am a newbie)

Look in your apps and see if you have one called Superuser. If you do you are probably rooted. Or you can go to recovery and see what kind you have.

Power off your phone. Hold both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. When the phone vibrates, let go of the power button but keep holding both volume buttons. In a few seconds you should be in the recovery menu. Use volume buttons to move up/down and power button to select. If you are rooted, it will say Clockworkmod Recovery. Just select reboot to get out of it.

If you want to root, you can follow this guide.

Looks like the phone was rooted because I see the Superuser app.
I followed your instruction for system rebooting but it still showing software update notification.
Please let me know other ways to disable this notification.

Have you tried just accepting the update?

You can freeze Device Management with Titanium Backup but I think you can only do it with the paid version. You can try and see. You need to be rooted to use it.

First, make sure you are rooted. Try installing AdAway and see if it works. If you aren't rooted it won't work. If you used Kies to get ICS I think it probably unrooted you, even though you have Superuser.

Also try this.

Power off your phone. Hold both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. When the phone vibrates, let go of the power button but keep holding both volume buttons. In a few seconds you should be in the recovery menu. Use volume buttons to move up/down and power button to select. Got to wipe cache partition and select it. On the next screen select yes. When its done go back to the first screen and select reboot. See if that helped anything.

I tried accepting the update but it does nothing. I also tried wiping out the cache partition as you suggested but the notification continues to pop up.

You can try a factory reset and see if that fixes it. You'll just have to reload your apps.
