Sold my Bionic

Sold my Bionic and have temporarily gone back to my Blackberry Bold. It sucks going back to a tiny screen an even laggier OS, but the Bionic just wasn't doing it for me. I had all the typical problems a lot of us were experiencing; slow camera, black screen of death, battery drain, etc. The tipping point was when one night I woke up after my hand must have brushed the Bionic. It was extremely hot, to the point I thought it was going to melt! I immediately shut it down and left it off the rest of the night. The next morning it was fine but that was enough for me.

Now I'm looking to get either the Galaxy Nexus, Vigor or maybe even waiting for the iPhone 5 next spring.

The only "heat up" I ever had was from a GPS App that was running for about two hours. Carrying Bionic in my shirt pocket. VERY hot.

I shut down the App that I never knew was running and it cooled down very quickly.

Good luck with your new device.

My rule of thumb with phones is always wait for the first OTA before passing final judgement on the device. From the snippets I've read of Moto employees and others the update looks like it's going to be pretty good. As much as we want a perfect device out of the box at launch, it just isn't going to happen.

I had a Bionic that had major heat problems that caused the battery to drain. I had it replaced and battery life has been great and no more overheating. I will also be selling my Bionic soon once I buy the Galaxy Nexus.

I've had overheating (like hot to touch once) and that was while uploading a 170MB file over 4G onto Zumocast (or was I downloading? not sure?). Anyways it had kept failing and automatically, by itself, retrying causing my phone to suck up 5% battery every 15 minutes and my battery reaching 50

Good!!!!!!

I agree. It appears that they are angry at you for selling it, as if they were the ones who created the phone. BTW, how much were you able to get for it?

People get defensive over their purchases because they don't want your disliking to shade their views...

Unfortunately it is part of human nature.

It's not that I'm angry LOL. I'm happy with my Bionic! Sorry

I guess after reading his "statement", instead of saying "Congrats! Bye"...I should have said "Yes, you made a superior decision and we will follow suit!"?

If you made a switch, God bless you, move on and enjoy your future phone(s).

Good luck...If you need "validation", I would pat you on the back...but I can't.

LOL

$400 with the extended battery, which I should've just sold separately since they are going for almost retail (eBay).

Are you going to use another upgrade or buy your next phone at retail?

I'm using another upgrade. 5 phones on family plan with 3 phones never having to change so I've got a plethora of upgrades that I'll probably just sell off with GNexs or iPhones.

I was not looking for validation. Simply sharing my frustrations with the Bionic and that I am moving on. What is there to validate?

Your post is simply a continuation of your "Congrats... bye!" post. Do you need validation for keeping your Bionic? Should I pat you on your back? Sarcastic mocking gets you nowhere.

Sometimes the greener grass is just moss my friend.

Nice quote. Though having plenty of upgrades gives me the option of checking out the moss :)

You're right...thanks for sharing. Good luck!

Well, I will buck the trend somewhat:

I returned my Droid Razr for....wait for it.....

A Droid Bionic!!!!

I am not going to trash the Razr. Cool phone, but the battery was about the same as the Bionic. The Razr may have been a bit better, but not noticeably so. I actually preferred the feel of the Bionic in my hand and like having the option to change the battery if (or, realistically, when) battery life becomes an issue. I also liked the idea of being free of a two-year contract. I am aware of some of the specs which are better in the Razr, but the differences aren't deal-breakers.

Ahh....the camera. To quote Ivan Danko: "software shit...." But I am willing to chance it, seeing no noticeable improvement in the Razr's picture quality (it does focus faster). I have also purchased camera FX and hope that makes things a bit better.

Unfortunately it is part of human nature.

It's part of some people's human nature. Most people driving 2011 Camry's could care less if someone sold their 2011 Camry to buy another car, especially a stranger. So, I really don't understand the logic of people here getting defensive over a phone that they DID NOT design, manufacture, or produce. Not everyone is going to like you, and similarily, not everyone is going to like your phone.

To be blunt, I think you got ripped off. Hopefully, you don't plan on paying full retail for the Galaxy Nexus or Rezound. That's $300 more for phones that are probably worth only $50-$100 more.

Because by selling this phone it causes them to think maybe they made the wrong choice, and that scares most people.
