Root Somebody please help me!

Um.. your phone is not charging?have you try pulling out the slim card and charge it using a wall charger! Instead of it being conected to you computer.

I tried plugging it into the wall and it wouldnt charge, until I removed the sim card. Now its charging. Thanks for that, theres still some hope here!

Just a thought. My pc has a sd card reader on it. Could I bypass the phone and just plug in the sd card and put something on it that would fix it?

So, I plugged it in, and I would have to format it first before I can do anything with it. Any ideas??

OK so all this time, I thought I had Windows 7 32 bit, just found out I actually have the 64 bit. I feel so stupid lol. So, step 1 is not done, and I dont have Ubuntu. I am downloading it now. Hopefully I can pull out some magic. Dont really know what to do thouigh. Maybe thats why the drivers arent working as well?
Well, I'm a little confused about this because windows has "compatibility mode" and can run 32-bit programs. I ran s-off on a 64-bit machine and it worked for me... After your phone charges up, if everything else was okay, try the alternative drivers I posted and see if they will work.

That is really weird! Anyway, I'm sure you meant SD card and not sim card since the Evo V doesn't have a sim card! So if you have a sim card then that may be our problem! :p

HAHA yeah sd card, not sim card. I will try those drivers now, but Im pretty sure they are the same ones I already tried

I don't think that there is anything you can do to the sd card to bypass it. There is a command you can run in command prompt (that I would have to find, as I don't know it by heart) that will cancel the control bear on your phone. Although, without the drivers working properly, I dunno how you could do that either.

What rom were you on when you started?
I'm starting to get to the point where I don't have much else to offer. It may benefit you to go to the juopunutbear help chat! They can definitely get you sorted out!

I am running harmonia. I just downloaded the drivers that were sent to me on here, and when I went to update them in device manager, it told me that the best drivers were already being used. So, I guess they are working, but I dont know how Im supposed to get them to reboot my phone, I guess.

According to Unlimited.io they say to run the ruu first to return to stock... Although, I've heard several people say it works on Harmonia, Unlimited says that it doesn't... My best advice would be to go through the entire list and do as much of it as possible.

I think you can stop controlbear with controlbear -f

You may want to try that and see if you can get into recovery and restore a backup if needed. But if you can get out of the control bear screen on your phone, then try to do everything on the list and try again.

I also used harmonia latest release, and was able to s-off with out no issues, I don't know much about running the Ruu.

I tried everything on the list. Not working. I talked to a lady in the unlimited chat, she tore me a new one for not following directions, told me to RUU my phone, not sure what that means, nor do I know where to begin since I cant do anything with it at all. I might just let the battery die and go use my black tie plan at bb to get a new one. They wont know the difference if they cant even turn it on

So when running the control bear software and plugged into the pc, did you try controlbear -f ??

Can you get into fastboot usb on your phone? By booting into the bootloader (volume down+power) and selecting fastboot. If plugged into the pc, you should see fastboot usb on the phone display. If you can get into fastboot usb then we can run the RUU!

Open group policy editor and turn off auto driver install. Win button+r, gpedit.msc

Go to control panel, programs and features, uninstall htc driver.

Plug phone back in to pc, go to device manager. Should be a yellow exclamation point. Right click, update driver and navigate to the driver that was given to you.

Don't make bb pay for your f up.

Yes, I can do that, and it says fastboot usb in red

When I type in gpedit.msc, I get a pop up. "Windows can not find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again"

You don't have 7pro then.

Google "disable auto driver install win 7 home".

OK all that is done. driver is installed. Now what? I really do apologize btw, im way out of my element on this one. The triumph was a piece of cake to work with. This is wayyy complicated, for me anyway

If I were you I would run the RUU since you can still get fastboot USB. Once on the RUU you can root it with the superSU patch like they suggest in the juopunutbear instructions. Follow everything to a T. It's your best bet.

I know that everyone has done s-off in scenarios that alter from the instructions but you are running into problems. I'd say start from scratch! Follow all instructions and hope for better results the second time around.

The RUU is here:
Directory listing of http://htcruu.com/Shooter

Get the one named:
RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.13.652.2_Radio_1.06.00.0426_NV_1.53_144_release_262287_signed.exe

It should be the third one from the top and says VM after the sprint_wwe

So, I just run that on my pc with my phone plugged in and it should go from there?

Yes just follow the instructions in the RUU like disable screen saver etc...

You need to be in fastboot usb.

Also make sure your battery isn't too low. At least 50% but I'd charge it more to be safe. If your phone dies in the middle of the RUU it could leave you perma bricked.

Oh! You're s-on... So you have to re-lock the bootloader first! Go into fastboot usb, and open a command prompt in the same directory as your adb and fastboot tools. Just like when you unlocked. (c:\sdk-tools maybe?)
Then type in command prompt fastboot oem lock
That should re-lock the bootloader. Then run the ruu.

After the RUU, you will be back stock and unrooted. So you will have to unlock the bootloader again. (Use same unlock token that you already have)
Flash recovery again.
Here is the 4-ext recovery.img if you want 4-ext recovery. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/100923173/4ext_recovery.img

You flash that with fastboot flash recovery 4ext_recovery.img

Then download SuperSU: SuperSU Download

Flash that through recovery like you would any rom. Then you will be rooted on the stock RUU!

Then decide if you want to s-off from there!

I know Im probably asking a lot, but is there another site to download the ruu from. It doesnt seem to be working for me. It will download for a few minutes, then it just cuts me off. I am downloading from other sites just fine, so its def their server, not my pc. Why does nothing work for me ever, I swear lol

I can't find it anywhere. I'll try to download and host on my Dropbox... Could take awhile.
