Root Someone help asap!!!! I want root

Anyone PM me as soon as possible so I can get this beast rooted! I am somewhat n00bish, but I've rooted my D1 and my DX, but this seems quite different. HELP.

EDIT: If you run into problems you can just post back here and someone will help you, probably not me though, i'm going to bed...probably...then again maybe not

OK, so I've gotten as far as downloading all of the required downloads, and I'm watching video 1. At the point of launching and attempting to switch directories, I type dir to confirm, but the DIR list I get is not from the bitmap of the SDK(I don;t know if I phrased that correctly)

I'm on Vista. And I don't know if I have ADB setup yet. C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb is a 402kb "application."

Next question, where/how do I get Thunderbolt Driver? I've been looking for it since the day I got the phone.

as for if adb is set up, if u type "adb" into command prompt what happens?


download htc sync from here for tbolt drivers:

Alright, I'm downloading it now. After that, should the rest of it be pretty straight forward?

hopefully...if adb works and can see ur tbolt the rest should be cut & paste into command promt for the most part, so yes it is very straight forward

If anyone's up, I just installed HTC Sync and plugged my phone in... It's not connecting. I am using the original USB cable, I have HTC Sync running on my PC with no luck???

I think I know what the problem is, give me a min and I'll get back to you.

Did you download the ADB for Dummies, and extract everything, configured the google drivers for the Tbolt?

Also make sure when you plug the phone in via the USB cable you're using the main USB port, it may be on the back of the computer, or if they're on the sides, it's usually sitting by itself. Sync will only see my phone if plugged into the main (no.1) USB port.

also,you may need to remove htc sync from your pc after installing it... all you really want is the drivers. seems i remember reading somewhere having sync installed can interfere with adb.

the end goal is that,you plug in your phone,put it in charge only mode,open a command window,and type adb devices that you get an output in the command window of your phones serial number.

once you get that,you should be ready to root
