Songs don't advance while sleeping

If I am running Pandora or Slacker and it is sleeping the next song doesn't come up. If I hit menu>menu and wake it up, it will automatically goto the next song. I describe sleeping as when you press the end call button or if you let it idle for a few seconds. My firmware is 1.5 and my awake time is 80% for the last 30 mins.

You can get an app that lets you set the phone to not go into sleep mode when certain apps are open. I would assume that its the apps themselves that don't play the next song when the phone is asleep, nothing to do with the phone.
