Help Sony PC Companion (No phone/tablet connected)

Hello folks,

My Sony PC Companion won't recognise my Xperia Z tablet saying that "No phone/tablet connected". My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 32-bit running windows 7 ultimate.

Please help. Thanks.

I'm using PC Companion (v2.10.174) on a Win7 Ultimate system, albeit 64bit, so it should work fine on the 32-bit version.

Make sure that you have the most recent version of PCC installed by downloading it from here. The error msg posted appears to suggest that the software needs to run in XP Compatibility Mode, so I wonder if your version of PCC is an older one?
 
It's fine on my Win 7 Pro 64-bit lappy, though sometimes it can take well over a minute to connect (which I think is to do with the 64Gb SD card in the Z).

Have you tried a different USB port on your computer?
