Root SOS Help!!! SOS Root gone wrong?

i think you rooted succesfully. try to dl the rom again and place it on your sd card and apply it instead of the one currently on there
 
Yup, not detecting SD. And it did die once, so i plugged it in. Could that be it? But its not reading the SD. Do i have to enable mass storage on the boot menu and leave it like that?
 
You are not bricked. If nothing else you can sbf back to stock 2.1or 2.0.1

I still think its an issue with naming or location of the update.zip.

In the current state you can't just bootup cause you have a 2.1 kernel from the spr sbf.

You can try flashing a 2.2 kernel but that will cause problems too.

That's some ideas. This is my last post of the night though asim about to walk into a movie theater. Hopefully those ideas will help the others here get this figured out. If not I think I could probably help you get it fixed in the morning.

No - do NOT enable mass storage. That lets the PC use the card, not the phone

Oh the BOOT menu... that's okay. I thought you were plugging in the phone and enabling mass storage
 
Do you have a wall charger or dock? Let's charge it overnight and pick this up in the morning. We'll all have clear heads and you'll have a full charge. We're minutes away from fixing this, but I'm not sure your phone has enough power left.
 
So enable mass storage if its not plugged in to the computer? does that tell it to read the sd? i've unplugged the sd and plugged it 6 or 7 times.
 
its been a looong time since i had your recovery... does it have an option to mount sd

but yeah you need a full charge. sometimes if you get below 50% it wont work right. weird i know i know
 
Okay. Moved it around, and ITS NOW READING THE SD!!!!! :) IT SAYS:
finding update pkg
opening update pkg
verifying update pkg
e: can't open /sdcard/update.zip (bad)
installation aborted
 
If your boot menu is asking you to enable mass storage, then say YES. That gives the PC permission to see it when it's connected, and it's how you'll move the ROM to the card. I can't recall that option in SPRecovery, but I guess it's there. Get some sleep, don't stress, charge the phone, and we'll pick up in the morning. Sound like a plan?
 
i think you need to reconnect it to your computer, enable mass storage and redownload your rom or a different one move it to sd disable mass storage and try to install again
 
okie dokie smokies, it installed. i'm still on the rec. screen and it says "Install form sdcard complete". Now what?
 
ANYWAY TheBeastAB: another successful root! You have to deliberately TRY to brick the Droid. There is a solution for everything, and you're welcome to dive on in and join us :)
