well if he leaves us hanging im gonna consider this a success! or that he smashed his phone broke his laptop and is by now at the bottom of a fifth of wild turkey! :)

Sorry guys, it rebooted fine. Good thing i just backed up my apps with astro yesterday. :) Only one problem, my bluetooth won't turn on now? Any ideas for that? Whats the first "rooted" app i should install. And FYI, FRG22 is much faster than FR01B!!! THANK YOU GUYS SO VERY MUCH!!!!

Well, i am now currently charging the droid.

the halt of Froyo is really pissing me off.... to the point where i want to root and use all the sinful fruit Verizon dares for us not to have.

np danielson we've all been there lol its why i love this community and havent upgraded yet;)

Titanium backup, everyone says its legit... but I have no experience with it.......

titanium will back up your apps. you need to buy rom manager trust me. its the easiest way to install roms and kernals. but it will back up your whole phone and all your data in case you mess up something later you can just flash your last backup

I just dont understand all this yet.

LOL.

Root ---> install update.zip (whatever one you choose, EX. BB 0.4)

Buy Rom manager, buy TB, and then back up your phone.......

Install new rom....... doesn't work out, back-up working rom exist on your SD card?

Alright, final recap. Rebooted and now bluetooth works silky smooth. And for any doubters out there, this thing (FRG22) runs slicker n owl snot. NO lag whatsoever like i had with FR01B. It was just wierd that it wouldn't find my sd card. I was just watching movies and listenin to music earlier today, so it was obviously reading it fine then. Whateva. I'm going to go enjoy some rooted froyo with caramel sauce now. Thank you guys!!! Maybe in a few days, i'll try some more advanced stuff (BB or themes or OCing or something) at which time i'm sure i will again need your tutelage. Pleasant evening to all.

glad it worked out also... seems i came in to late for this one as it unfolded or I would have tried to help a bit as I recently went through something like this - root stress - and these guys all helped me.

it is no longer PTSD = Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
it is now PRSD = Post Root Stress Disorder

LOL. Yup, all is well. Now i've downloaded ROM manager, flashed clockworkmod and am looking for a theme for FRG22. Found one called 928 Black Glass Theme. Anyone else have this one?

I'm using the black glass theme for SS 4.6. It's a nice look...and works great. Glad it all worked out for ya! Welcome to the addiction...LOL

I take it that worked?

Now make a backup BEFORE doing anything fancy like flashing kernels! Later we'll get you flashed to Clockwork Mod Recovery, where you'll have a lot more options in recovery.

EDIT: Boy am I late to the party... I need to hit refresh more often LOL

Hi; sorry to hear you're having problems but you posted to an old thread for the Motorola Droid - you would probably have better luck posting in the Photon forum

Photon 4G - All Things Root - Android Forums

Or start a new thread.

I did a web search on the Photon, if this isn't working for you definitely head over to the correct forum. Good luck!

PHOTON 4G - Master Reset / Factory Data Reset

How do I reset my phone to factory settings?

Factory Data Reset is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature; everything is deleted. Nothing stored on the MicroSD or the internal phone storage will be affected unless you choose to erase it as well.
Factory Data Reset
  • From the screen of your phone, press the Menu button
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll down and tap Privacy
  • Tap Factory Data Reset
  • Check Erase internal storage if you would like to erase all the data on the phone internal storage such as applications, music, movies or photos.
  • Tap Reset Phone

Perform a factory reset using external keys
Note: It is highly recommended you use the above factory reset using the settings. If you are unable to navigate through the menu to perform a factory data reset, you can follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button
  2. Screen will come up with "Fastboot", press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get "Android Recovery", then press Vol up key
  3. Wait for the "triangle ! / Android" screen then go on to step 4
  4. Press both Vol up and Vol down key simultaneously. A menu will come up
  5. Tap on Vol down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted, and tap Power key. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap on Vol down key until coming to Yes and tap Power key
  6. After userdata is cleared, the "reboot system now" option will be highlighted by Default. Tap Power key
  7. Phone will reboot to initial setup screen.
