Help Sound stops working

I'm using Nexus 4 for around 3 months and in the last days I have an issue that sometimes the sound stops working, and when I'm raising or lowering the sound I see the volume bar but the slider stuck on the left and the sound isn't working. When I restart the phone the sound is working again, until it happens again, and then I should restart and so on.
So, is this a software problem or should I send my phone to repair?

PS the problem happens either with and without headphones

Try booting into safe mode and running there for a while to see if it is an app causing the problem (safe mode doesn't load installed 3rd party apps).

If MacFett's suggestion doesn't help, my guess is it's a sticky rocker switch and I'm afraid that would mean sending the phone for repair
