Root Source Code Now Available

LG emailed me early this morning saying it was posted....I emailed them back and got the same answer about the bootloader as last time

got the exact same thing yesterday too....

i do not like that they are not giving us the unefficient unsafe method first....i do think that the developers could probably make it into a safer and more efficient method than they could in better time

Its also about business. If I was LG i wouldnt release a potentially unsafe method. Then all the people that screw theyre phones up trying to do it will want to send them in on warranty and then everyone that buys one after a month or 2 is going to get refrubs and cry and moan its a refurb :D

this has a lot of misinformation, apologies i couldnt step in sooner as i was away.

anyways this is kernel source useful in making kernels. since taking the stock one and unpacking it and repacking it makes it so your phone does the cool inverted flashlight app screen i really doubt compiling a stock kernel holds much hope since that changes so much more.

"shabby" you say "why is there platform source in here then?!" android is sourced under apache its true, they dont HAVE to provide the source for it EXCEPT things like busybox and other open sourced GPL projects which they are LEGALLY obligated to provide. im not saying there isnt enough source in there to merge with aosp and provide a sort of booting rom but its a long shot (moto actually provides enough code).

keep on hammering them about the bootloader, its the squeaky wheel that will get things changed, this however was standard kernel source dropoff. something they have to do in order to keep selling android phones not cuz of any amount of emails etc :/

TL;DR
its kernel source not rom. they had to do it not cuz you asked them to.

Isn't part of the ROM source?? The rest you need to get/make proprietary files..correct??

grumble grumble Shab's you always have to rain on my parade :P i thought this was something that happened due to us pestering them...

but trust me, i'm going to keep asking about the bootloader...one or two messages a week should do it i think

nah this is something they had to do, but like i said keep the pressure on them. people did for moto and htc and now both offer unlocking tools :)
