Root sourcery 1.1 finally out

Sourcery dev's have released v1.2. It can be installed via the update option in the Sourcery Magic (under Settings).

Info from their website (Sourcery ROM):
Sourcery V1.2

This update was designed for V1.1 and we can't guarantee
it will work from 1.0 but we have taken some steps for those on 1.0. If you do the update from 1.0 and install a theme you could be correctly updated to 1.2. Please do a back up before installing. To install V1.2 use the Sourcery Update option in settings. Sourcery ROM V1.2 includes small updates that include the following theme previews, hot reboots, reorganized settings, stock calendar added, option to delete gemini calendar, new scripts and an advanced rom update that only allows you to install once until we put a new update out.

Edit: Installed without problems. Once you confirm that you did a backup, it downloads the update and reboots automatically. Noticed that the 'Settings' lost the custom look which came with the theme (I have the renovated theme). Re-applied theme, everything back to what it used to look like. Not sure what the new scripts are, couldn't really find anything which (by my recollection) wasn't there before.

While I have not tried this ROM I have been very impressed with the level of support the Devs have offered and I think it looks like a nice ROM with a lot of inventive ideas. I also base this on the evaluations of a number of people whose opinions I take very seriously.

I agree with others that there needs to be a variety of ROM and styles, it is what makes the Android experience so great. Just like all of the variety of cars offered by manufactuers it is choice that makes our OS such a great system.

I applaude the devs for their work and hope they continue with their ROMs.

I have to get to work so I will make this quick.

The Sourcery Rom is an AWESOME rom. They have included a lot of features that other roms won't ever even try to include.

As far as themes...... The theme developers including Gflam himself are working on a ton of themes. The rom was only released on Christmas day. More themes are definately on there way. I'm working on one that will be exclusively on this rom if it passes the requirements.

I'm very impressed so far. I've been running this for a couple of days now and it's been running pretty smooth. It's a little slow after unlocking the phone but after that it seems pretty fast. I really like the animations on this, it matches up great with ADW Launcher EX.

I wouldn't say that its finally out. The first sourcery was released not so long ago. But just stick on the GB theme and you will be fine. The only gripe that I have with this rom is the font. I want to know how to change it.

You can easily change the fonts from Settings. First click on Sourcery Magic, then Sourcery Wizardry, then Fonts. It's virtually identical to the way UD does it.

I dig this ROM, it certainly has some features no other ROM out there has. It is very stable, quick, and I had literally no issues whatsoever with it. I like the renovated theme a lot, but that is of course a question of personal preference.

The dev's are very responsive on their IRC and also reply frequently on DF-forum to issues being raised. I haven't seen them post much here on AF, so if you have any problems with the ROM, you might want to check DF to see if that's a known issue and if there are work-arounds. They are already talking about v2.0. While I haven't seen or heard anything specific about it, I venture a guess and speculate that this will be a GB-based ROM :-)

I have this rom installed on my D1 and *really* like it. It runs smooth and fast, and that's what I'm looking for in a rom. Some of the Sourcery features under Settings are pretty unique, and not like anything I've seen in other roms - it's certainly worth a look.

2 questions

I can't seem to find the sorcery settings anywhere when I scroll through the icons

Anyway to change the transparent backscreen for texts? I can't see the text messages.

Thanks!

Otherwise I am really enjoying the ROM. It's the first in many that I've tried that I have had little issues with. :)

K, found the settings....sorry I was a little slow, they were just under the regular settings Icon and not a new one. Still need help with the second question though.

Not sure I can help with the 2nd question, I am using HandCent for messaging. But maybe try the alternative messaging app (under 'sourcery magic' > 'alternate apps'), it may have different background.

Yeah, they're great. I find myself going there just to chat with them and tell them how much I enjoy the ROM. They're very humble and open and really just want you to enjoy their hard work.

The other night, eagle has said that they've played around with GB, but it's just going to be too big a PITA for them to convert at this time. He did mention to put it out there in case people were wondering. Hopefully as other devs smooth out the edges, they'll be able to collaborate and put something together. Anyway you look at it, this ROM is already fantastic, but they're not settling and are striving to move forward.
