Root Spb mobile shell UI...

I saw this in the market now, has anyone try this on the EVO and how is it?
 
No I read on android central it was 15 dollars...? Is it worth that over launcher pro our adw launcher? I have my doubts...
 
I used it. it's not so great. Loved it on my old WinMo Mogul. Its got an Iphone/Android menu style, very awkward. I forgot exactly where i got it from. I remember something about google searching "spb mobile shell fix".

I need to know... does it work well on the EVO? I'm running CM7 RC4 (thats Gingerbread 2.3) and I found it a bit laggy; however I only ran it for a minute and got a refund... Does it need to build cache or what have you to run well? I want to run it, but need to know if anyone else is running it on their EVO? HeLp PLZ
 
It is average, if you want it, it can be found easily. It impresses other people because of looks, functionality is mediocre though. My understanding is that is was actually built for samsung devices. I rooted a friends captivate and it ran flawlessly, but after a day, we both were back on ADW ex.

Not meant for gingerbread either. Best i could do was get the wallpaper.
 
I had tried the "beta version" and another version thinking it was the beta, but it wasnt, and was a lil slow and whatnot. Tried the actual paid version on CM7 RC4, been flawless on my Evo, not slow or laggy, havent had a single FC nothing.

@alaman68 - Not sure where u got your info "Not meant for gingerbread either", but its made for 2.1+ (including GB) excluding tablets. So yes it works well with GB

I'm actually loving the launcher myself. Worth $15? Probably not, but I love the interface. It's clean, the few widgets it does have are really nice and you can certainly put any Android widget on your screens that you choose. Haven't notice any excessive battery drain at all. My few problems are calendar sync (others users have no problem though), no landscape mode (apps that can will go landscape though) and the automatic placement of elements on the screen. Coming from Launcher Pro and a very minimalistic theme to this is kinda refreshing. I hope it only gets better once it matures a little bit and customer complaints are addressed.

So, are you running this over warm 2.2? Did you dump anything off, before adding this? I guess the question is: "Is there anything redundant, in 2.2, which you don't need anymore?"

Yes, running over 2.2 with some of the elements of 2.2 intact e.g. the Gingerbread menus/notification icons, custom lockscreen, etc. Nothing really had to be dumped other than the obvious like whatever widgets you are using etc. 2.2 is the ROM which is the interface with the hardware. SPB is just a home launcher like Sense, Launcher Pro, ADW etc. I haven't used Sense since Launcher Pro was released and as such used a Sense Removal tool from XDA to get rid of it. But I left the other widgets on my phone in case I get bored again or see some of the creative ways people are doing screens here and on XDA and want to go back to something new and fresh.

thanks for the reply. Warm 2.2 seems like a good rom to use under SPB, To get all the functionality.

could you post some more screenshots?
