Root spb shell launcher disappearing act :-(

Okay this post isn't about breaking rules :-)

I am interested in purchasing this lovely launcher.
My dilemma is that the hacked version totally disappeared.

Yes, I really want to buy this app but boy oh boy would I be fuming if a $15
purchase blows up in a poof of smoke.

I know there are no guarantees but maybe I can get some insight from
the smarter ppl here (all of you)?

I'm skeptical and not inclinted to automatically assume
It was due to unverifiable licensing.

It would be disappointing to spend that amount
for a invisible app. And no I'm not asking this forum
for workarounds, I know you follow the rules and I respect that.

I'm running go version cm7 with b kernel, not sure that tidbit matters.

Thanks

Well I use this launcher on a regular & if it's not purchased then it won't register & will disappear as soon as you hit the home button. NO HACKED VERSION WILL WORK you must buy it. But it works great with any CM7 or ICS. Works great on my new Evo as well hope this helps man.

There is a refund process with Google play store. I think it's for 24 hours.

I believe it's 15 minutes. :(

And Like Jaay said, if you buy the app it should work properly. The issue is that it isn't registered.

If you do buy it and have issues (which I don't think will happen), you can always contact the developer and see if they can help or refund your money.

So I bit the bullet and gave it a shot. Its been over forty
minutes and no disappearing. Purchasing made all the difference,
works really well. :D

i personally would like to see more apps developers offering free limited versions of there apps, on a daily basis i see plenty of apps i would try out, but i hate thinking i may shell out money and hate myself for it lol

it also woulda been perfect for you android lol, if you coulda got a Sample version that just had limited setting, or a timed trial of some sort so you could have actually used it and played with it before thinking of purchasing

and i know that would be alot to have the dev create the app or game, and then create a sample or trial version, but i think it would help them sales wise in the long run

sorry for the slight off topicness lol, just throwin my ideas out there lol

Okay so after a reboot it crashes my phone automatically
rendering it unusable. I'm going to try to see what's going
for about a week before drawing any final conclusions

Werd

I know an easy workaround but for piracy reasons I cannot tell. Also have to follow strict rules here.

The problem you are facing is due to it checking itself and knows its not legitimate so closes down. I for one know its fully functional on the Triumph and wont close itself if purchased. Just buy the app if you really like it

He actually purchased it, down on one of his bottom posts, but he said after a reboot it crashes and became useless

if others are using it on this device with no issues id put my money on the issue being on ur end, most likley thing i can guess is maybe the paid version of the app you got and installed clashed with some lingering things from the non paid for one if you know what i mean lol

Yes, its definitely paid for, now.

That is a likely cause. The APk I used to work around
authentication, the terminal emulator Linux code I used,
and the fact data/app/com.spb3dshell.apk was there twice
could be thwarting functionality.

It seems I came to a moderately acceptable state now as
I've rebooted at least three times successfully but I say
moderately because it still crashes at times.

I had to erase the unofficial data/com.spbshell3d.apk, and
wiped terminal emulator and uninstalled it. I then reinstalled
a backup w/ data from titanium from a time it was functioning.

I hope I did not break rules by posting all the details
but I don't think anyone here would copy a fail anyway.
To get to my ultimate point would anyone here know
a code allowing license check verification or was it somehow
already done inside the official app itself? I ask this because
I have a feeling simply uninstalling terminal emulator
doesn't erase a Linux command but I could be wrong. And
I'm also considering the unofficial version was installed
without play store firewalled from data web access and
the paid version was downloaded normally. Not knowing
programming I realize it could simply be my phone
also.

That's not as time consuming a process as it sounds. Keep in mind that all the developer would really have to do is write a trial script into the existing source and publish that version too...

Isn't the developer of that software a member on this forum? I may be mistaken, but I believe I was in a conversation with that developer in a post a while back. It may have been another launcher though.

well since others are using it with no issue thats the only problem i could see, just for saftey sake ill call it the unofficial one and official one lol

my guess, the unofficial one installed the same things to the same areas as the official one would/did and there probly named the same

so my guess would be now, your official one is installed but it sees the files for the unofficial one, and during authentication it could have both the official and unofficial files in the same area, so in my opinion it may be the presence of the unofficial files which clearly didnt work are causeing your official version to not know what it is lol

i would say if you have a Nandroid backup of sometime before you installed this unofficial version, id try goin back to that and then reinstalling the official one

or if there is no backup you could always, and i know it sounds so painful, do a fresh install of your rom and install the official version

and i also dont believe just deleteing the terminal emulator will remove the code, the terminal emulator just allows us to access and use the linux type system built into our devices, just to delete it i believe wouldnt remove the code, you already altered the code

I purchased the App around X-mas time and had used it with my Triumph for a bit and the only issue I ever ran into was that every blue moon my widgets like time or battery percentage would stop refreshing until either rebooting or restarting the Launcher. Otherwise it had been glitch free. Still using it on my Kindle with CM9 and it is beautiful. Admittedly don't use and am not a fan of most of thier Widgets but the way the interface lays out on a Tablet with the rotating home screens and animating the widgets is awesome, would need to see it in order to understand.
