Help speaker quality

loving my evo but the speaker is a lot weaker than the optimus. not only is it soft but it has a tinny sound. this seems to be a very common issue.

I've researched different fixes for it. I've tried a few apps (volume+ and music eq) they helped a bit with quality but not volume.

has anyone tried this fix?

It's really not that difficult, this is the same software/procedure that we use to swap PRL's all the time. Just carefully follow the directions, as you should when doing any mods to your phone.
 
I purchased Volume+ ... took it up to +6 or +7 ... really increased the volume for watching movies.

I don't really have an issue with the loud speaker. It's the ear piece! I literally have to have it like 2 notches above zero. Any more and the sound gets distorted.
 
Well I did the above mentioned mod in QPST and the volume levels are much better. Especially listening to music with iem's sound awesome. I'm loving it! As far as Volume+ is concerned, I find that it works well with some apps and in others it doesn't seem to do anything. Very inconsistent.
 
I got QPST to work, and am able to change the volume values at will, but there isn't really any difference between 1 and 4.
