Special Edition Huawei Ascend coming out April 8th

Finished in high gloss black with matte black casing, the Huawei Ascend Sanctioned by TapouT features the iconic TapouT logo emblazoned on the back of both covers, one in tonal black and the other in dark grey with the cage graphic frequently seen on TapouT merchandise. The handset is powered by Android
 
This is just great news, thanks for posting your discovery. Maybe we'll get Froyo the same day it comes out. But what about people on CricKet???
 
special edition huawei ascend... wow, we're coming full circle back to my "souped up ford escort" analogy! Lol. I think owning a huawei ascend makes me white trashy enough without having ultimate fighting crap on it. :p;):D

For Cricket, it will help them sell the Ascend II (2.2). Cricket's informed customers will not be happy, though. I'm sure that Cricket probably isn't concerned about these customers as they are the minority.

PS... I am not going to bother with the new Ascend 2 as it is not better or really a step up from what I have seen they give you a 5meg camera woooooo. But still no flash, why do they always think a bigger meg-pixel camera is a upgrade without a flash. 3.2 to 5 is really nothing on a cell upgrade without flash and other additions. Seems a por excuse for a newer model or upgraded one. And the few other things so called upgraded over the Ascend 1 come on?

Don't worry, cricket will get the update, it'll just take a little longer. If not, the metro version will be ported to cricket in no time. (probably before the official cricket version comes out)
 
I've given up on ever waiting for a upgrade that will not come, crickets made their $ off us, now they are trying to make us buy the ascend 2, nothing I read, or saw about it, makes me want it, no flash, a 200 megahertz increase(wow! Pleese!) , and harder to root system with the same bloatware. No wonder jazzite left this forum.

so im assuming they have the same cpu....just want people to buy it just for the color? wow they crazy...
 
It would actually look pretty cool if it didn't have the stupid tapout crap on it (and even more extra bloatware on it)
 
Call me crazy, but first off, nowhere on that promo page did I see a reference to Froyo. I had to google it to find a reference that did specify this.

Second, if it is coming out with 2.2 then it will only be a matter of time for it to be modded to work on both Cricket and Metro, most likely a MOD similar to Icarus, with bloatware stripped.

Third, the Ascend II is not JUST a camera upgrade, it also has a GPU, which the original does not, so gaming performance should be significantly better. And it will be running either Froyo 2.2 or Gingerbread 2.3.
 
I'd be more opt to buy the Indulge over another ascend. Great lil phone for the price, but I want more power all around if I buy a new phone.

wouldn't the gpu drivers need to be removed? is that the only difference hardware wise?

i don't have time to search, gotta brush up on iphone for a job. screw crapple.
 
Different CPU, and probably other different hardware as well. And with Huawei's code, you might as well try to make that run on an iPhone.

2 screens =2 batteries. I would wait a while and read some reviews before trying a new technology like that. I'm interested what the battery life will be like on that phone. It is pretty neat, but I don't really need 2 screens.

The indulge is way overpriced for what you get. Crappy camera, crappy keyboard, no amoled display, which is the nicest thing about the "real" galaxy phones. You should check out their forum, it's really pretty sad. They don't even have the thing rooted yet, let alone any custom roms. They are actually (i am not making this up) taking up a collection so they can pay some guy to figure out how to root their phone for them. It really makes you appreciate all the support we have over here. Oh, and they are saying the battery only lasts 1 hour online on 4g. (with speeds barely better than 3g) All this for only $400? fail.
 
Why would someone want ten tapout training videos on their phone? If your'e learning how to fight from your cell phone, you probably shouldn't be fighting. Lol

I haven't seen the full specs on the ascend 2 yet, so I'm not sure about multi touch. The optimus has it, so I would hope the ascend 2 will as well. If it has a gpu like Blast says, that will make a big difference. That was my biggest question about the ascend 2. I refuse to buy another phone without a gpu. That, along with the 800mhz processor should make it a real upgrade.
 
The Ascend 2 sounds like a very minor upgrade. Not worth it if you ask me. Better off to wait for the Hauwei Ideos X5 which does sound like a nice upgrade worth getting and it's been more-or-less confirmed that cricKet plans on getting it (about mid year or so).

I'd wait for that if you really want to upgrade.

I do have two complaints.

1.) No trackball (I love that thing on my Ascend)
2.) It offers 720p video recording but it's a joke.

Regarding the 2nd point ... the phone is out in Europe now and I've seen people upload the 720p videos. The problem isn't resolution but the fluid movement (or lack thereof). Seriously it is super choppy. The phone is clearly not powerful enough (in terms of CPU / GPU) to handle it. I hope it has a standard definition mode (like 640x480) as it would probably not have that problem.

Other than that it seems like a great phone. Even has a LED light for the 5.0 megapixel camera and auto focus!

Price is expected to be be the "same" as the Ascend (knock on wood)
