Help Speed dialer Issues

Got this from another forum:

Clearing application data for the following two fixed this problem WITHOUT factory reset (note you lose contacts and call history).

Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Dialer
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Contacts Storage

Trying this now - I'll let you know if it works - I would be glad not to have to do a factory reset at this time.

I did this today, as my speed dials were gone. This worked for me! Don't factory reset, try this first, you'll just need to resync your contacts and then do the speed dials. YAY! Thanks to Zzyzx for finding this on another forum. Saves time from having to do a factory reset.

This worked for me also. Thank you!

Zzyzx , This worked for me as well, thanks to all the above members who lent their expertise in fixing this Speed Dial delimema. Hope this works for all who may have this problem.

ok so I did the

Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Dialer
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Contacts Storage

Re-synched my contacts via google and the speed dialer works.....but now Facebook won't re-synch!!! It re-synched yesterday after I download 2.1 but won't today. Can't do it manually either as it says there are no matches for any of my contacts. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a complete fix for the facebook contacts issue

Add back the syncing for Facebook for HTC Sense
Menu, settings, accounts & sync, add account, Facebook for HTC Sense, (when done go back to home screen)
Now go back and delete the contacts storage again
Menu, settings, applications, manage applications, manage applications, (wait for it to load), Contacts storage, Clear Data, (when done go back to home screen)
Configure settings for Facebook for HTC Sense
Menu, settings, accounts & sync, Facebook for HTC Sense, uncheck Sync contacts, (when done go back to home screen)
Finally, Re-sync Google contacts
Menu, settings, accounts & sync, Sync all, after that hit the home button and see if it all works correctly!

sorry for it being dumbed down, I typed this up for a person who isn't as technically savvy as most of us.:o also this assumes that you deleted facebook for htc in the accounts and sync menu. I had her do that already.

Outstanding suggestion!!! Fixed my speed dialer without a factory reset!!! Resynching my Google account then restored all my contacts.

Many thanks!!

I am having the same issues with 2.2 on my Droid X. Speed Dial worked and let me assign two keys. When I went back to fill in the remaining ones - no dice.
I have tried:
1. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Dialer
2. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Dialer Storage
3. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Contacts Storage (and re-sync)

and still no luck
