people are so greedy. The iphone 4 is a premier device that is one of a kind, of course Att will enable HSUPA on it because it is there best device.

Why do you want it on Captivate? Are you uploading huge files? I see no reason for Att to gives Captivate owners HSUPA speed since iPhone sells more and brings in more revenue, why slow down there network for a few subscribers?

We pay exactly the same monthly fee as iphone users so why shouldn't we get the same speeds? I don't care about at & t's perspective, I care about mine.

I'm 1.99Mbps down .26Mpbs up on 3G.

4.53Mpbs down 2.43Mpbs up on Wifi.

1.9 down n 3g
and
21.76 down on wifi

Compared to a HTC.
The iPhone 4, you don't want to know... 27 MBps. Smoking fast.

Well if you want all Att's services you should go with iPhone 4, the premier network device.

Or hack this phone to allow it, but Att has no priority to let this phone suck up more data from iPhone 4 users out of the box.

So, AT&T seems to have restored HSUPA in my area (phoenix, az), because my wife's iPhone is getting upload speeds of about 1.2mb again. However, my captivate is getting about .2mb upload. So is it safe to say that HSUPA has been disabled on the captivate? Is it likely that there will be a way to enable it? I found a thread over on xda where someone had said,
"- Setting "ro.ril.hsxpa=2" and "ro.ril.gprsclass=12" in /system/build.prop does not enable HSUPA on the Captivate like it does on the Nexus One"

Anyone have any idea? This is just one more thing that makes me want to take this back. There are a lot things I like about this phone, but there's just been one disappointment after another...

take a look at : http://androidforums.com/samsung-captivate/137436-how-enable-hsupa-captivate.html

So it is disabled, but a little bit more hacking, and it will be re-enabled again. (currently voice does not work if you enable it)

ok doing this at 3am in oklahoma city,

2864 download 1574 upload so that's should be the best i could hope for.

OK, this is really confusing. Supposedly, Captivate is not capable of getting that high upload speeds because it does not have HSUPA enabled. Are you sure you had your WiFi disabled. Can you confirm that you really can get upload speeds above 500Kbps?
