Spouses

polka this thread is for people with SOs and are therefore locked down and miserable. Being single, free and not having to put up with anyones crap is a blessing and you should enjoy it until someone sinks their clutches onto you and you can't escape.

Bad night? :D

Bad night? :D

i was trying to take my best stab at the 'jaded and amusing married dude like al bundy' shtick but looks like i failed :( but i actually had a great night, the girl understands and appreciates my geekitude! there are worse harpies to succumb to ;)

My wife never wanted a smartphone until we got an everything data plan since I already had a blackberry when we got married. She decided it was stupid for us to be paying for all the features and for her not be able to use them.

She has had a blackberry now for over a year and I don't think she will ever give it up. She can not do touchscreens because of her fingers, but man does she love that blackberry.

The best part is that my dad just had to have the same phone that I do because he wants to keep up, so he bought a tour, but couldnt' figure out how to use it. I let my wife show him how to use it. He was mad that she was able to figure it out and he could not.

I'm going to have to get her a carrier pigeon and teach it to talk to my Evo.

lmao. That's hilarious. What revision are the pigeons on these days?

Better I cheat on her with a phone than another woman.

hahah nicely said.

Shout out to the singles! The EVO is all mine :D

Werd! Although sometimes it does suck. Haha.

No spouse or significant other to share the news with...just a couple of friends and my inner geeky thoughts!

You taking applications?

My wife was the same way...didn't give two shits about a smartphone until she got one. Now there is no way in hell she'd ever give it up...she always talks about how much she loves having a smartphone to always be connected and be able to look stuff up at the drop of a dime.

My wife likes the sprint nav. She drives 50 miles one way to work and sometimes there will be a massive wreck on the interstate so she uses it to find her way around the wreck.

The first time she was able to do that she called me and was so proud of herself for figuring out hows to do it all by herself.

My girlfriend isnt really interested at all. She always see's me looking at all these different android sites. I am constantly telling her about all these amazing phones and why they are so great. She tries to act interested, but its all just flying over her head. I think the EVO is def the phone I am going to get.

Haha, moving along then...moving along! :D

I can definitely relate to this. My girlfriend and I are in the process of getting engaged and while she has her wedding stuff and websites, I have android forums and tech websites lol. But she supports me in what I want, but she does think the Qik app is one of the coolest features she's ever heard of.

Wow, you guys have it made. My lady is upstairs right now telling me to get off the computer so we can spend some time together. She hates that I spend a lot of time looking up info on the EVO. Its gotten to the point where I will spend time with her, and then in the middle of the night while she is sleep I will get on the computer and see if I can find any new info. Lol, thats sad.

Yeah, my girl has her flowers, glass and rocks. And I get to be a tech geek.

Its okay, I do the same thing at night. :-p A couple times a night, every time I wake up.

She is getting used to me looking at android and tech stuff every day, and is getting used to it, she learns to work around my stuff(like a good woman!), so im getting laid more now adays!! :-)

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been together?

My wife was like that when we first got married, but we both have gotten a lot better (I've calmed down on the tech stuff a bit and she has become more understanding that it is part of who i am). You may want to consider a laptop if you don't have one. Depending on you SO, quality time could just mean sitting and watching a movie or TV together, when you could be on the laptop.

My girlfriend and I are in the process of getting engaged

Wow, if that isn't a geek alert: There's a process for getting engaged?

:D What's the process other than dropping to your knee and asking the question? Holy cow...

5 kids, wife, dog. Technology has put the bread on the table for 20 years in my home. It's putting the oldest one through college and lets her be a stay at home mom. She just leaves it alone. In fact, for our Anniversary, she gave me a $100 BB gift card "for your phone (EVO)" even though I've only had the Hero for a little over 8 weeks.

<sigh> has to be said: She gets me.

lol well mainly it just involves all the prep work, i already popped the question but the deal isn't set in stone "til the save the dates go out we have the church is reserved the country club for the reception is reserved" and so on and so forth... lol it's a fun process

I don't have a significant other, but the girl I spend the most time with... actually listens to when I talk about my techie stuff. She knows she's the only one that will listen, and quite often she'll ask me if there's any updates.

This alone makes me want to be with her even more than i already did. I'm going to ask her on a date soon ^_^

dont do it through an SMS, bro

LoL... that's funny because when we're not together, that's how we communicate. We go through about 4k txts a month with each other.

But no, i'm going to do it when we go down for drinks on Sunday.

And by date, I mean, dress up take her to a nice dinner and then a nice movie while holding the doors open gentleman style... seeing as we already spend a lot of time together.

It's funny to see how the kiddies do it these days. Oh, how times change.

Unfortunately that's the way it is. At least I found a girl who may respond to a nice geeky guy instead of an @#!hole like most girls my age go for these days. :-0

My Fiance really doesnt mind all about it as long as i txt her so that she knows that im still alive and that i didnt starve myself looking for the update for the eris

My wife is fine with it. I spend most of my day on a computer, mostly doing software development (android/iPhone apps, Java EE stuff for work).

She's actually big into anime/manga/deviant art stuff. She's also writing her own book, so me coding all day is no biggy for her. ;)

I hate to break this to you, but if she said yes, you've moved past the "getting engaged" part my friend. You're now in the ever so joyous wedding planning phase.

but the deal isn't set in stone

If that helps you sleep at night, GO with it! :D

@jmxp69

Today we officially changed our facebook relation statuses to "engaged" and this is how people my age know that it's real lol :o

Hehe. Congrats. Maybe soon I can put "in a relationship" on mine.

If that's the case, i'll celebrate by convincing her to get an Android phone haha ^_^
