the ROM flasher in me has a need to check out the 9.17 build and that is what I will do...just to see the lay of the land! *crossing fingers*...I suppose no WIFI is something I can get used to again, but we'll see...

I do notice that each new build has gotten smaller in file size...especially between the 9.17 and 10.21 builds. 25 megs is pretty noticeable...

UPDATE: That was a fail, maybe on my part. Got an error msg about the updater-binary being all sorts of bad and it's tied to the code for the bootloader...

FYI: Sprint just did a "buy Galaxy Victory for the pay as you go plan for $0" promo. So there may be an influx of people who weren't just doing that to be able to sell a phone. May be some new GV owners potentially on Sprint.

on the 9/17 build. Now I know what the error means. It's telling me I need an updated bootloader for this phone. Please tell me it's the Victory .tar in the OUDHS download repository where the latest CM builds are, which if so, I assume I need to flash that via ODIN?

A technical answer for all the troubles and ******ed files etc is: This device only shipped with a 3.0.XX kernel but requires a 3.4.XX to work on CM-10.2. I am using GS3 (d2), apexqtmo and expressatt as references but there are some major differences between the devices I cannot rectify because ALL those devices have similar GPIO arrangements. goghspr/goghvmu doe not have the same assignments so imagine this: You are a spider. You look at your spider buddies web and think it's great and you can do it. You start, but get confused, so you look closer only to find you must untangle the core of the web to see how it all ties together. Everybody with me? I'm just a novice. In another year I might be able to do this more efficiently all around. I understand everyone's hopes are up. Also, I can't always answer everyone's questions in the thread. It's terribly time consuming. So, if someone were to join me on Hangouts I would just leave some messages and Helpy Smurf could do the thread. I'm also working on the d2dcm (GS3 Japan) since they sent me a device and it takes an hour to build a ROM. Put it all together again. Blah Blah. Cheers. The kernel is done cooking.

EDIT: I can't imagine what word I used there that is banned. I don't use the F word...

What is the last file in the CM repo? The victory .tar file? TELL ME WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO USE IT! :O (:feelingflashey)

It's a kernel. Sometimes what I'll do is build the rom then release a few kernels to test. Once I make some progress I'll sync the kernel source and build it all together again. Get it? Got it! Good!

I'm an offended that you verified that I had it right before I got it :( but I had done just got it! :D thanks.

Hey, is the install process any different ? I'm not getting past boot anymore. Usually we just install and clear data and wha-lah.

Anyways thanks for your time. Your work is amazing ! Keep it up

If its just a kernel you shouldn't have to clear data. And if its a tar file don't you have to use Odin?

That .tar file indeed is a kernel. But not one you want to flash. Attempted it after flashing one of the newer builds. Nothing doing, unless you love bootloops.

The dev is right...gotta have a 3.4 kernel for this one that's functional.

UPDATE: Here's the dealio...after much hand-wringing and research, turns out the 9/17 build can be flashed if the unit is on a previous baseband/modem. I am currently on the MC1, but it is looking for the MG5 for VM or the original LH1 (ICS) or LJ9 (JB) for Sprint. Anyway to safely downgrade to LH1 or LJ9 while being given the option to return to MC1 and my rooted stock image?

Just wanted to point out that the idea that you need a 3.4 series kernel for CM 10.2 is an erroneous statement. See this port for the HTC EVO 3D which uses a 3.0 series kernel. This Dev has also successfully used a 3.0 kernel for CM 10.1. Now I'm in no way criticizing anybody here because the Dev here has done way more with this than I ever could have. Just wanted to clear that up. I know the platforms are somewhat different but maybe you can use this to get an idea of how to make CM10.2 work with our outdated kernel.

Interesting. To be honest, I would not mind being a guinea pig for a CM10.1 build for the Victory. I gotta admit, there's not too much of a leap between Android 4.2 and 4.3 beyond better notifications and greater control, but there is a big jump between 4.1.x and 4.2.2.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but certian things just need to be backported for the build to work. (SELinux) It only made sense for us to jump to 3.4 kernel series because the rest of our Krait sister phones were getting them (Galaxy S3, Galaxy Express, Galaxy S Relay 4G and I want to port 3.4 to Galaxy Stellar but I have just started).

I'll clone it.

Heroes, PLEASE~ make CM for Samsung Victory quickly... The stock ROM with Sprintorious is eating up my internal memory like hogs.... Apps still install to internal memory.. :(

The Victory is just like that. Even CM won't change it. Although, I ran across something in the last few weeks that might work to append the internal and external storage areas...the key will be patience.

just wondering on the progress of this? I'm thinking about trying the current (20130917), any major issues i should be worried about?

Yes there is multiple issues its kinda buggy right now. Cm 10 is the only stable version. Which im using right now . The only issue i found so far was the bluetooth but i tested teachme bluetooth fix and it worked. Otherwise its a good rom to start out with :)

The way to read wat date is cm10 is 10.2(20130917) which means it was released 9-17-2013 which is a old one . There is a 20131029 one but i can't remember where i found it and i don't know if anyone is working on that paticulare one. Hope this helps :)

I have cm10.2 20131029 if anyone wants it to test or fix. I would have to upload it to androidfilehost first tho. Just dont wanna upload it if noone wants to play with it . Lol

CM-10 will be the most stable. chairshot is pushing commits to that on a regular basis. I don't own this device any longer. I plan on getting the kernel working with the most recent patches from d2 kernel upstream, then I'm done unless someone sends me the device, which I'm NOT asking anyone to do. The files will stay on the host and if anyone does want to pick this up I'll give them access to the file server also.
