Root [Sprint/Cricket] Help with unroot

Is there a way to restore stock recovery without wiping data? I unrooted but want to get back to being able to take updates.

Yup, you just flash the stock recovery.zip from your custom recovery.

And then once the update is installed, is it just a matter of re-rooting yes?

It'll still be rooted after the OTA, but there may be some glitches with SU for new apps requesting it.

I always suggest reinstalling your custom recovery and reflashing SU. Thats how I have my dad take updates.

In my case I didn't want root. But after I Odin the stock recovery I had to delete data from Google framework services and check for Samsung software update. I had to try this 4 times before it worked.

what is all this "rooting" I keep reading about?? does it have to do w/the last update??? I'm not thrilled about it. My phone seems to be lagging. Especially when needing to use keyboard for texting, emails, etc. Any suggestions?

Good question; it is essentially gaining full (superuser or "su") access to the device. There's a more complete explanation here, in the All Things Root Guide.
