Newbie here. Can someone here please clarify something for me. I now have the Everything Data 450 Plan, without the "hotspot" option ( using "easy tether" for a connection to my laptop ), and was wanting to know if "unlimited data" on this plan is truley unlimited... or is there a 5Gig monthly cap that I have read about on some posts?

TIA

edit... I am using 3g (4g is not available in my area)

You can check your account out on Sprint's page. But I too have the 450 everything plan and used so far 149,000 kb and it says unlimited under it. I heard about the 5g cap too.

Some people are confused. The only time there is a 5gb cap is if you are using the MiFi or Overdrive hotspots on 3G... there is no cap on 4g.

As far as your phone goes.. there is NO data use caps at all. surf away and worry about nothing.. even if you tether there is no cap with Sprint. :)

So let me get this straight. I can use my phone not comcast for my internet. What is the difference in speed? I would love to get rid of my comcast internet connection.

I have went over 12gb in a month. I think the reason they never question it is we have 3 phones on the plan and all are unlimited data. Currently one phone isnt in use and my wife doesnt tether with hers so I assume that may be 5gb per phone??

that all depends on the comcast speed you get.

4G can be any where from 1mb to 8mb
3G can be any where from .2mb to 3mb

i would think that comcast is faster and more relieable and constant.

Yup, that's the $10 premium is for. REAL unlimited data usage! ENJOY!!!

I am sorry.. I do not think that is right.
the $10 premium is for preferred access to the network and ... because these phones have a high ability to consume more data (which is true).

our plans have unlimited data.. that is it!

only 5GB caps are on the wireless data cards.

Sprint's terms of service says:

In addition to the rules for using all of our other Services, unless we identify the Service or Device you have selected as specifically intended for that purpose (for example, wireless routers, Data Link, etc.), you can't use our data Services: (1) with server devices or host computer applications, or other systems that drive continuous heavy traffic or data sessions; (2) as a substitute or backup for private lines or frame relay connections; or (3) for any other unintended use as we determine in our sole discretion. We reserve the right to limit, suspend or constrain any heavy, continuous data usage that adversely impacts our network performance or hinders access to our network. If your Services include web or data access, you also can't use your Device as a modem for computers or other equipment, unless we identify the Service or Device you have selected as specifically intended for that purpose (for example, with "phone as modem" plans, Sprint Mobile Broadband card plans, wireless router plans, etc.).

Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance.

I'm not worried about Sprint's TOS. Every company is going to have that kind of clause where they reserve the right to kick you off their network for excessive usage.

I can see my data usage maxing at around 10GB/month if I really stream a ton of video and tether the phone on a daily basis. This may seem high, but Sprint is touting their 4G service as unlimited. Someone here posted about being over 20GB/month.

My comcast internet has a 250GB/month bandwidth max, which is way more than I would ever use. Even if I reached that level, comcast would probably not do anything unless it was happening every month for awhile.

Remember: it costs sprint much more to lose you as a customer and to attract new customers than to just keep your data hogging addiction going...IMHO.
