Sprint Gets new Nexus.

I'm pretty sure all the carriers will get it after Verizon's exclusive period ends, I just hope it doesn't last that long!

Given that the Nexus S 4G came out in May, I would expect the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus to hit sometime this coming May(ish) as well.

Unless Sprint gets a super version of the Galaxy Nexus, I think its too little too late. Samsung is supposed to come out with some amazing phones by next year. I wish Sprint would Lte asap.

I thought it wasn't exclusive to verizon? I hope sprint do something sooner rather than later. Sprint has been quiet for sometime.

I don't really see a point for Sprint to get the Galaxy Nexus if Sprint is going to switch to LTE soon. By the time Sprint comes out with the Galaxy Nexus it will be almost time for a new Nexus to come out. I think Sprint should just skip this one and wait for the next one. But I'm sure Sprint and many others don't see it the way I do. So my guess would be that it will come out in May or June.

In the US it is exclusive to Verizon for a while, don't know what their period of exclusivity is though. If they didn't have an exclusive at launch it would have been out already on AT&T at least since a version with AT&T has already passed through the FCC.

By the time the Nexus hits Sprint, the next generation of phones will come out a few months later. My contract expires in July 2012 and I don't think I'll be getting the Galaxy Nexus.

Looks like Sprint will be getting the new Nexus.

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus is one of the hottest Android phones on the market right now and according to a recent report, the smartphone will soon launch on Sprint’s network. An advertisement spotted by Engadget on CNET that likely ran a bit ahead of schedule revealed the device, suggesting that an announcement could be coming at or even just ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show next week. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone to feature Android 4.o Ice Cream Sandwich, and it also sports a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display and 4G LTE support — Sprint’s advertisement for the phone points out that the device will be the carrier’s first LTE phone. Sprint announced earlier on Thursday that Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio will be its initial LTE markets, with a rollout set to begin in the coming months.

According to engadget it will be 1.5 ghz dual core instead of 1.2 like Verizon's version.

That was a typo. It is 1.2GHz at the CPU clock. I've read that the phone can't run at a higher clock speed on the stock kernel (for whatever reason).

Is this NEXUS pnone only a 3g phone for Sprint???
Since the ONLY 4g radio in this phone is LTE (no WiMax radio on board), and Sprint has not yet deployed LTE that leaves this as a 3g only phone in 99.99% of the market.

Sprint is not releasing anymore WiMAX phones, this was one of the 3 LTE phones that Sprint said would be launched as their initial LTE devices this year once they have their LTE network.

So my original assumption is correct then that this will only be a 3g phone until Sprint upgrades my location to LTE... and I have been told that that upgrade is years off in Phoenix.

Yup, just like every 4G phone.

And who told you that about Phx? Link?

I was in the sprint store looking at the Gs2 and the rep said that they don't even have WiMax deployed in my area.

Thanks. Yea, and that is true. Im in PHX too. It looks like they never will have WiMax deployed here... sounds like they are done with WiMax deployment. All future 4G expansion will be 4G LTE (via Network Vision). So yes, if you buy a 4G WiMax phone in Phoenix, it will always be a 3G phone, at least while you're in Phoenix. Pry best to wait for the LTE phones to arrive before signing a new contract if you're not already in a WiMax area.

And, was the 1.5ghz processor really a mistake? Apparently there are rumors that there is a Galaxy Nexus "Plus" with an update Processor, GPU and Camera. Maybe this is the one Sprint is getting, with a spec bump.

LOL I just had to quote myself from last month. It's only right that Sprint gets an upgraded version of the Galaxy Nexus since we are getting it so late. This will make it even more interesting. I'm still waiting for what the GS3 brings.
