aero10844

Lurker
I just got this new update last night April 17, 2013 the only thing I could tell you is that it was in MA7 and now is on MC2 and that network is in Samsung not sprint, I am installing it but I do not know what the update is for I can only tell you it had about 27 megabytes onlyany additional information will be appreciated thank you

I am rooted, so for now I am not touching it until confirmed safe, take a screenshot and post it, so we can see.

Do this and see if you could upload the file, see below

C&P

Go to a root explorer and navigate to /cache and find the file and copy it out of the cache to ext sd and post its file name and size for us. Then find somewhere to upload the file so we can pull it apart and see what's new.

Your doing the right thing DonB....I update to mc2 and damn my signal sucks and I keep losing data, I wanna go back to ma7 but if we are going to get another update I'll just ride it out. Oh bye the way we should be getting 4.2 in may or jun.;)

It's funny though my signal I find it a little better in 3g, when the new 4.2 update comes out how will you know if is 4.2 or another simple update and I am rooted but don't have root explore so I can go see my update files I have to pay $4 on play store

I kept clicking install later because I didn't want to loose root then figured WTH and clicked on it. Update started then stopped, phone did a full reboot with update failing. Probably because I am rooted.
I'm still on MA7.

That is correct, do a Nandroid, then flash this AIO, [Firmware][Modem] All In One MA7 to MC2 --- Updated [04/24/2013][ 1 2 3 ... Last ], once done, reboot. Then once back at your screen, go into you file explorer, and go into device, go to the Cache folder and delete the MA7 to MC2 file that download from your OTA, and you should be good to go.

I am on MC2 and have no issues by the way

If your signal is bad on ma7 then try a different modem. LJC was the best for me so I just went back to the LJC modem

First when the update comes out it will tell you it is 4.2, and you can go to the play store and download ES File Explorer, all you need, you do not need the paid version. Most times though the paid version have added features. ;)

I am rooted with stock and use TWRP (rooted for full Titanium BU). This is my first venture into Android as I was a Palm Treo user until a few weeks ago. My available update is c4f115490f3d.update_SPH-L900_LJC_to_MA7.zip

I have a couple of questions about system updates:
1) Is there any way to dismiss the constant "System update available" notification?
2) If I want to do the MA7 update, what would be the procedure? As I'm new to the OS, step-by-step instructions would be appreciated (please, treat me like a child...this is all new to me). I would assume that the same procedure would be used for all system updates.

Thanks and appreciate the help.

There are procedures to stop the notification, I assume you are on MA5, MC2 is already out, you can simply flash the AIO and if you have issues, you could either flash a different Modem, or revert back to your Nandroid.

My signal was never bad on ma7, but for some reason mc2 is not good for me hahaha, I'm good now I'll just stick with PAC man ROM for the time being its a really good ROM you guys should give it a try.

Actually, I'm on LJC with a pending update to MA7. Maybe I need that installed before I get a MC2. Either way, would love a step-by-step procedure.

cool thanks, I do ask because the last update did not give any kind of information about the new update it just said enhancement. so what you say is that when 4.2 comes out it will actually say 4.2 upgrade right?

You can go back to stock, just flash your MA7 Modem and your good to go

I am on Whomp 4.2 now also and really love it, and the customization mods of it also. ;) I was on MC2, weird thing is as soon as I flashed Whomp my baseband is back to MC7, no biggie as long as I don't get the OTA notification ;)

When I go back to stock I always use Odin with the lj1 firmware and let it update on its own I like to have a fresh system, I think PAC man and root box ROM are really good if you want a 4.2. Base and I use virtue ROM for Tw base.

Edit: I'm actually using carbon right now on mc2 and so far its running good.

I make a habit of flashing from Recovery, I will check with Odin next time for the heck of it.

I'm not finding the mc2 file on my device using file explorer. What is the name of it so I can do a search and delete it?

It should be in, device/cache, and it should be Ma7 to MC2, if you got the update notice

According to ES File Explorer, my cache folder is empty, and when I do a search for MC2, the only thing I find is the all-in-one file I put on my SD card to install from TWRP. But I'm still getting a continual install update notification on my status bar, and also a pop-up notification every so often. This is really annoying.

Why you just dont unroot your device with odin then except the update and root it the again with the same root method thats for ljc thats faster than looking for your files you would have been done already just saying.....
