Root [Sprint] [OUDHS] TWRP 2.4.3.0 For the Galaxy Victory

I did this
1. Install the Samsung drivers
2. Plug in the phone and wait for the drivers to finish installing
3. Power off the device.
4. Put the device in Download mode by pressing VOL-DN then Power. Hold until a choice menu appears
5. Push volume up to chose Download Mode
6. Fire up Odin.
7. Chose the .tar file using the PDA slot option
8. Uncheck "Auto-Reboot"
9. Chose "Start"
10. When Odin is done, unplug the phone.
11. Remove the battery
12. Replace the battery
13. Press Vol-Up then Power until the words "Booting into recovery" appear in the upper left corner
14. The TWRP logo should show after the screen flashes grey briefly.

Hrm...maybe you got a bad download. I suggest a redownload and try again

just tired it again everything seem to go good but the TWRP wont show up on he phone flashes grey and thats about all i unpluged it from the computer pulled batter then put battery back in. and tried to Vol up and power button it said recovey booting... then it went grey then nothing it just started normal

Keep in mine i have the VM Victory and i had Motorla Triumph before this phone and i have installed tons of Custom Rom's and CWM and TWRP on it but this just wont work....

I'm on VM as well.

When you got the phone...was there an OTA available?

I know with mine there was, and I took it. Not sure how much of a difference that will make, but who knows.

You're powering off the phone and booting into download mode, right? Just trying to figure this all out here.

Yup powered off and put in Download mode whats a OTA is that a update i updated my phone like last night take in mine i just got it like last night lol.

Menu > Settings > System Updates. Or Updates...something like that. Yeah, OTA is an update. I got my phone...Sunday...? I think. And there was an OTA for it. So maybe you need that?

Edit:

THough on second thought...you can't even get to stock recovery...

Do me afavor. Find the stock recovery .tar and try flashing that, and see if you can boot into that? Do the same battery pull and such, and see if it sticks.

well i kinda like how my phone looks and i have apps download so if i flash stock recovery will that delete far as i know it does but yea. let me check the OTA

It SHOULDN'T delete anything.

The only time flashing anything deletes stuff is if it has something about formatting system in the updater-script.

Odin doesn't utilize any sort of script...so it should be fine.

Using the link in the first post, go to the Tools directory. The Samsung drivers are there, as are BusyBox and SuperSu installation zips.
i installed both zips SuperSu got like 3 error on it and BusyBox got one saying signature not valid i dont see the apps in my app drawer?

IDK whats going on with you, but I did not have nearly as many problems porting this recovery, building the kernel from source, installing it on the test device and debugging it as you have had with the install. All you gotta do is Odin the tar, flash the SuperSu, then flash the Busybox. I know it works because I have done the exact same thing repeatedly on this very same device. If you are still haveing problems, us the instructions from the ClockWorkMod thread as a guide to begin at the beginning.

using virgin mobile , did the OTA update

did the dance and recovery was there. rebooted. then the recovery gone, back to stock. did the dance and recovery back . rebooted . recovery still there. rebooted a few more times and recovery is staying now. yay.

Does it work for Virgin Mobile version of this phone? and is it possible to unroot it?

Yes, this recovery will work will Virgin Mobile device. I have not published an "unroot" but have it in mind. There are ways to unroot but that is not within the scope of this thread. You can probably find those instructions elsewhere on Android Forums. Good Luck.

Please post an unroot for Virgin Mobile Samsung Victory using the TWRP method. Incase it is needed for warranty issues.
Thank You

Requests are usually in the form of a question. For example one might ask: Is there an unroot method...? Or "Could you post an unroot method for...?" Notice it ends with a question mark.

In response to your courteous demand, there is an unroot method already posted. But, if you are flashing kernels and recoveries you may not get warranty service because the binary counter increases every time.

Other than the version number, is there a difference between this recovery and the one listed on TWRP's site for the Victory?

TeamWin Projects - TWRP 2.5 - Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE | TeamWin

The changelog for TWRP is there and that will describe the changes through all the versions. I ported TWRP to this device and submitted my results to TeamWin who then tested the recovery independently. After some time I prompted Dees Troy, the lead guy over there, to make it all official. So, when you ask if there are any difference, I think what your asking is "Is that one better/safer/legit?" and it definitely is, and so is this one. Once everything is official he just does the builds himself to keep all the devices current. If something changes in Android and I have to fix something I will. Flash the new one and let us all know how it goes!

2.5 seems to work just fine. Thanks for all of your work.
