Root Sprint protection app and root

Is anyone using the Sprint total equipment protection app with a rooted phone? Thinking about trying this out and was wondering if there would be any issues with being on a rooted rom and s off?

What exactly does it do? Ive never even heard of it.

Chances are there shouldnt be any issues with it, but I'd feel better about running something else that does the same thing :)

Theres plenty of other apps that do that. I'm sure sprint has no way of knowing your phone is rooted by running this app, but I would trust other companies to do that,

Yea I did some more reading and dont know why but it said it needs to be in stock condition and on stock rom. Its more for my daughters so that is ok but i was thinking of something on my phone also. I saw some other app there by developers that will also work on AOSP so ill try them out.
Thanks.

Do you notice this running in the background or slowing the phone down?
nope. it mainly runs when you download or install an apps and it checks for malware. you can set it to scan anytime you want as well. it is a pretty sweet app IMO. i have never heard or found the app to drain batteries.

I will tell you that sprint is proactively trying to catch rooted phones on their network but not with the tep application. If you get error code 16 out of the blue....it's not a bad idea to have unroot method prepared if u need it. Sprint offers other services for tracking your phone called family locator but it's like 5 bucks a month for it. If you do have tep you can call asurion and they will track your phone one time as a curtesy and probably try and talk you into downloading their app.

Sprint is into making money. They will pester you possibly if you root so good idea to be able to unroot. However they will not kick you off as that would cost them money. I do not pay for their Protection Plan. I just got a used Evo 4G for $150 far less than their plan would have cost and only to have another phone without a new commitment. Phone was in great shape though seller stole the 8GB micro SD said it was included but it was not so be careful.

I figure I pay enough already. Root to avoid even greater charges for things I seldom do like a hotspot for my nook when traveling. Theft protection is also good app. Although the Cell Phone companies are making it harder for thieves to activate phones.

that is true...they may pester you or try to deny you help in the event that you might have a problem. also when you do pay for the protection and do need a replacemnet you are going to get a refurbished phone. that is a viscious cycle...the referbished phones most of the time are going to have a problem too. the advantage that you would get from tep is that if you need repaires or diagnostics done on your phone it will be covered and no cost to you. make sure that if you do buy a sprint phone used that it is not rooted when you try to activate it. (root it later lol) rooted phones will not readily activate depending on the rom it has on it.
