Sprint systems slow/down?

Same thing in New Orleans. I went in at 10, left at 1130. I'll probably go back around 8. Every one expects issues on a launch, I was prepared to wait and prepared for there to be issues, but this is awful. People trying to defend Sprint in this situation must not have any idea how business planning is supposed to work. This is the definition of big corporate fail, and even though I'm not getting rid of my phone/plan, I'm not buying their stock either. Not that ATT is any better, naturally. Massive incompetence, and I hope the execs deservedly get railed for it.

I'm going back to BB at 8pm tonight. My BBM rep was calling their activation line nonstop for at least 45 minutes before he gave up and offered me another time later today. :(

Wow...I am feeling pretty good about getting to Sprint Store @ 530 this morning. I was # 9 and the system was slow then (about 9 Eastern Time). The manager found a couple workarounds (not pushing some options initially...like visual VM, then adding them once activated). Everything was VERY SMOOTH. There were 8 people that were waiting since 5 yesterday afternoon and they were letting in 20 @ a time. When I left after about 45 minutes, things were still going smooth, but the line to get in was still about 40-50 people deep. I could count at least 90 phones that were visible and the manager said they could disclose how many they DID have, but one employee mentioned "several hundred". Also mentioned that another corporate store only got about 15, but it was because all about average store volume. I am LOVING the new phone although 4G isn't working @ home OR at work, although they are both "deep in the blue" of coverage on the map. Go figure.

I wasted my time at ES and said i'll be back tomorrow. Drove an hour to get it and they can't activate or even call Sprint.

Good thing I sent a complaint email to Dan at Sprint, got a response and now calling the rep to complain yet again.

GJ SPrint way to plan things out.

No BP is a BIG corporate FAIL, this is just a small bump in the road.

Peace, Chuck

Sounds good to me, you sure will tell them...
why not just tell them to keep it and go to another carrier, sounds even better. One less person clogging up the system. People cry about the $10, people cry about system being hit all at once, yet they stay with Sprint and get the phone...
Sprints getting hit with couple hundred thousand credit checks all starting @ 9am, couple hundred thousand activations, then couple hundred thousand updates to phone all at the same time.. There isnt ANY carrier that hasnt had the same issue when phone like this comes out.

Well I'm glad it's acceptable to you. If I told my boss that my Exchange server or file server was down because too many people were trying to access it at the same time, I'd be immediately fired for not doing my job correctly. I'm glad you have all day, but I have a job that I need to do during the day and I can't stand at Sprint all day waiting to get activated. If this was such a problem, they should've rolled out a better plan.

All my local Radio Shacks were out of stock, so I just went to the Sprint store instead. They couldn't activate me at first and I think the Sprint employee was more pissed off and thought it was even more unacceptable than I did, so so much for me not being reasonable huh? His exact words were "They've known they were going to sell this today for MONTHS, you'd have thought they would've thought about that. Even our quotas for this month are WAY high. They should've planned for this."

I ended up leaving and coming back, and then they were able to do it relatively quickly at that point. Another employee said that the system seemed to be back up now. The rep and I thought if I left and changed my plan online (because that is where he was having trouble) and came back, it would be much faster. Turns out, if you change your plan online, it takes 24 hours to update in the system. When I came back, it still showed me on the old plan, but the system allowed him to change it at that point and it took about 15 minutes.

You all need to chill.

There are tons of phones being activated at once..

Be patient till the end of the day or tomorrow.

At least my BB isn't the only store experience problems, still upset. You would think Sprint would be prepared, I'm anxious. I went to my local BB in Louisville (St Matthews store) and they told me the system was messing up. I went on my lunch and now back at work with no phone. I don't know what sucks more coming back to work or leaving BB with no phone. I'm going back at 5 ish though...sigh

I just picked mine up in downtown Los Angeles this morning, and it wouldn't activate for the first 20 minutes or so after I left the store, but I just kept re-trying and it finally went through. I remember the original iPhone activations were a nightmare so I wouldn't worry - it will come up eventually.

PS - The Phone is AWESOME - coming from iPhone I was concerned I wouldn't find the build or quality what I was used to but it actually feels better put together than my 3GS.

I was in best buy from 12-2 this afternoon. Took 2 hours to get everything up and running. System was taking forever and it crashed multiple times.

Well i have mine, took about 45 mins. Its still on my friends account though so need to get it off his and onto mine still.

Ladys at RS wanted to add a task killer and a bunch of other crap, i was like no thanks, but they still wanted the new girl to learn how to use it. She was poking and proding away at it pissing me off finally i got it back and left the store.

I just came back from a Sprint Store in downtown San Francisco, and it took them 30-45 minutes to process each customer's activation. Mine, unfortunately, is not yet fully activated. It still has no data coverage. People gave AT&T flack for the iPhone 3G activations, but my experiences with AT&T were nowhere near as bad as with Sprint today. I hope their day-to-day service is a lot better...

I've been here at best buy for over two hours. They can't get my new phones activated. I'm typing this on their demo unit

Im waiting at BB and my appointment was an hour ago. I'm going nuts looking at their dummy floor model..

My BB is activating my phone right now and will call me when they get it done.

My BB told me they wouldn't activate mine if I was not there so I had to reschedule from noon to 3:30 but they can go GFY themselves I'll go when I'm ready. They better drop what they're doing and help me.

My BB got someone on the phone at sprint and activated like 10 phones in a row with the same person on the line. It was madness.

Getting mine tomorrow waited an hour and the system never came back. RS couldn't even get thru to Sprint ... :(

FAIL!

It took me 2 1/2 hours but I finally got it. The best buy employee worked his ass off, spending most of the time on hold with sprint trying to fix the problem when the site timed out in the middle of porting my AT&T number. I'm glad it worked out...this phone RULES!!!

Just called my BB and they told me their "Employee News" told them they are not allowed to activate any more phones right now and not allowed to call sprint.

At the sprint store I went to this morning in Kansas City, it took 30-45 minutes to get activated. They had to do it through Sales Support, on the phone. Most of the local salespeople had their headsets in, on hold, waiting for Sales Support while they set up the phone, sold cases, etc.

I got my 2 Evo's, but the Sprint systems were HORRIBLY slow. Took and hour and a half to complete our sale and that's after having to start all over once b/c the system crashed completely.

The poor girl helping me would click one item and then have to wait 15 minutes until it was able to process the next item.

Luckily I wasn't in a rush and had some nice people to talk to. My Evo's are charging right now, haven't even turned them on yet. I feel like I'm the only person that's doing this. I am trying to get close to the suggested 8 hour first-time charge before turning it on, but in reality, I'm pulling it off after 5 hours, I think that will be more than enough. (I know, probably not necessary at all, but I'm trying to do it the "right" way anyway)...
