Can this phone be unlocked and used on other networks ?
I've read there is a place for SIM cards.

If unlocking wasn't illegal now I'm sure it could.

As well with it being a cdma phone, I doubt it has a sim slot but i could be wrong as well since I don't have this device.

I don't have the phone either, thinking about getting one. the specs say cdma and gsm with a mini sim slot can anyone confirm this ?
btw looks the the ban on unlocking will possible be reversed.

Unlocking isn't illegal, it just requires consent of the carrier to which the phone is locked. For a phone that's not subsidized, there should be no pushback from the carrier. Unfortunately, there's not much appeal process other than the court of public opinion.
