Root SRE v1.3 | Root + 1.2GHz OC/UV + MobileAP + USB Tether + LagFix

Who is having luck with this in here? Really thinking about doing it but I'm a bit of a wuss...

Also, newbie question, How do you find out what version firmware you are running? The JH3 JH7 stuff that everyone is talking about.

Go into Settings -> About Phone then look at what Baseband Version says. It should say something like I897UCHJH7

I'm with you on SRE, I wanted to install it, until they got rid of the no OC version. I really don't care about over-clocking all that much, because I dont want to have to deal with changing battery settings all the time so my battery doesn't drain every 5 hours.

I wish, they'd bring it back.

thanks for the firmware tip. I was looking for just firmware with a 3 digit description.... I should probably not be messing with ROM's if I can't even find the firmware right! :D

Do I need to flash JH7 to then flash the 1.3.1c?

Check out the latest post in xda on the subject. Someone posted 1.3.1c without OC.

The last 3 digits of the baseband version string is what we talk about when we say JH3 or JH7 and so on. All it stands for is the month this ROM was built and the number of the build.

If you're running anything other than stock, you need to use Odin-OneClickDownloader to flash back to stock, then use Odin3 to flash to JH7 and then install SRE

What is the stock firmware? JF3 or JF6 or something? What is JH7?

Should I flash the JH7 firmware and then do the SRE?

That's what I would do, but it's your call.
As I said I'm still iffy about installing SRE, but I am running JH7 on my phone currently.

Also, don't forget to back up your data. Flashing will delete all your settings and apps.

DG is beta testing SRE 2.0 ... might be worthwhile to wait for that. Last I read, that had a built-in lagfix and possibly improved GPS? I'll have to recheck the thread on XDA again.

How can GPS be improved? This is a driver issue not kernel problem from everything I've read.

I may have misread. And given that thread spawns replies like no ones business, I have no idea what page I might have read that on. Did just notice that DG mentioned SRE 2 will be in public beta very soon.

Just tried flashing to this.

Right now it is stuck in the "installing software screen after the reboot" after 5 secs it says "rebooting now" and it reboots and does the same thing over and over.

any ideas whats going on here?

pretty sure its because i didnt flash to stock before i tried doing this. but me acting like an eager excited little school girl, I didnt do my research first. Is there a way to flash to stock rom at this point? i can connect my phone to the computer because of the restarting

Thanks george, I did this. Was scared for a little bit because I could not flash with odin in download mode (was stuck in file analysis) but when i did a different download mode (hold both vol buttons and plug usb into phone) it worked.

finally running this rom and loving it!
