Root Start Up apps

Which start up apps?

I dont know of anything that will stop or prevent anything from running. As soon as its stopped it will usually start back right back up.

Your best bet? Just delete the apps.

I dont know which ones in particular you are talking about but you could try deleting them apps that are bugging you.

There is a list of safe apps to remove here:
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/460445-list-apps-safe-remove.html

And a few more here:
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/571406-what-these-why-they-running-constantly.html

I have the OoVoO app and every time I turn my hone on its already running. Until I have to manly force close it. Like Skype, drop box, and many others.

I dont want to delete them.. I like my apps (: lol guess I have to deal with it...

Just try freezing them with Titanium Backup.

This

This is your next option. I freeze box, dropbox, ROM manager, etc..... and MANY others that dont get used on a daily basis. Much easier to unfreeze and use it when you need it instead of sitting there for it to run when it likes.

Android by its very nature records the apps you use the most and keeps them in memory so that when you go to open them its quick and smooth. When the system needs more RAM to operate then it goes through and starts closing apps out of memory to free up more. There is very little way to solve this because that is how android operates....I guess you could adjust the min free in rtb and jack it waaaaaaaay up but that will decrease battery life a lot because android will constantly be closing and opening apps. :)

*EDIT* so you probably wouldnt see any performance increase by closing these anyways.

Dang.. I thought their was an app to stop start up apps... Ugh... Guess it's just for computers... Thanks guys... Guess I'll just freeze these suckers..

Sorry I meant to say when I quoted him that freezing it will disable the app and you will have to unfreeze it again to use the app.

And computers work different because they arent on android OS. ;)

I expected someone to make an app like that already :/ and I understand.. I don't mind going back and forth to use an app -_- lol

When you open up oovoo go to settings click on application settings scroll all the way down and uncheck that last box:)

In the op she says "besides ROM toolbox lol"
Made me wonder what issue she might have with it. The one you linked gives useful info about each function in the apps autorun. I don't remember if ROM toolbox does.

yes, rtb does have the auto start up app kill option, also kills receivers to those apps too, the problem is, you may get some apps not working, like youtube or tango (video calls), i went back, made sure to run them again, and they still dont load 100%..... uninstall and reinstal is the only way, not sure for others, yet my maps still works and music player. very useful and keeps them from running in the background untill you use them.

i use the rtb options as well as bomb that task, keeps my mem free at 120-170ish with every screen lock

Can you tell me some good apps that can prevent these start up apps? Besides rom toolbox lol

AutoStarts on GooglePlay
the Best one, Worth the 1$ or whatever it was. it disables the permission that the other apps fail to change.
I was Long ago using this on my rooted Samsung Admire to "turn off" all the metro crap.
Now I use It to stop rhapsody, Gmail, and any NON SYSTEM APP from running without my permission

What problem:confused:

I get the same thing happen, on some app permission "triggers" that I disable (in ROMTB) after a reboot, they revert back "on".
After I discovered that, i installed "AutoStarts" from the playstore/market. That App also covers more triggers than romTB

yes there is and it's worth the 1$ to buy it
here AUTOSTARTS

you can SAFELY disable ANY apps autostart permission, including calender/messenger/gmail/maps/contacts/camera/music/facebook....ANYTHING

when you need to use the app, just open it like normal. And remember to "force-close" the app when your done. just don't forget you wont get anymore E-mail or FB notifications if you disable those permissions, until you manually start the app.

"google Maps" has no business automatically turning on everytime i plug in my charger... but someone google deems this necessary.

RomTB is a Great APP, but it's autostart manager is limited. if you can't buy a 99c app get RomTB light. If you want the better one, get Autostarts

Also the app it'self does not run all the time, only when you open it.

Must Root to change permissions, otherwise the app only shows you what the permissions are

I was able to get my current RAM usage down to 30mbs (samsung admire, admiral beast rom, using "autostarts" with every app off)

65-80mbs on my LG Esteem, Gengersteem2 Rom

What problem:confused:

one permission on my Esteem that RomTB would not disable was Rhapsody's trigger to turn on ever time the clock changes.... WTF I DONT NEED MY MUSIC APP STARTING EVERY 60SECONDS LMFAO

another one was the stock "email" programs trigger for admin account something...

I disable them, and a few others, and after a reboot (or a few) about a day later, rhapsody is running again in the background. I know because I'll get a notification from rhapsody.
and behold when i look in RomTB the permissions that I disabled are somehow green again
