what rom are you?

you can make a mod for it on your own if you like. here is where you can cook up some mods and even theme your rom: Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen

Yes, depending on what rom you are on, some themes for the specific rom can change those.
Otherwise what Ocn suggested will work, but personally, I have not messed with that at all --theming and such

Some (custom) ROMs even put their own status bar icon/changes. Go ROM "shopping" and check out the screenshots, change logs and what is included and look for status bar icon changes.

Rom=nitrous 1.6.3 and ya im not really apt to go to much into the whole themeing thing.. i was jw if there was a somewhat simple way

nothing really easy to be honest with you. but if you ever feel like tinkering the uot kitchen is pretty cool actually.

A bit late but jrummy's romtool box has some easy theming options, it all automated and you can backup originals too. Can change status bar icons, fonts etc. Be careful with the battery ones though as most assume you got a 1% incremental battery icon.
The process is visual though and shows what will be replaced and what's missing if so.

+1 on the uot Ocn, easy to use I think.
