Help Status bar SMS Notification

Hi,

I have a HTC Desire S and i have a problem getting my phone to display the short preview of the SMS(Text message) that i recieved. I checked the manual, which says it is supposed to be under SMS settings, under notifications, but all I could find was "Show notification icon when new text message is recieved" It seems like the option has dissapeared with an update or something. Because a friend of mine also has the Desire S, and has this option enabled, but now he can't turn it off..:) I am frustrated..:)

I can get the Icon (Envelope) but not the preview.

So, does anybody know what is causing this problem, or where the setting is?

Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
Build nuber: 1.47.401.4 CL78999

I just drag the top of the screen down with your finger to reveal notifications and your
sms preview will be there

you must have missunderstood my problem... I'm talking about the preview that comes up in the status bar itself, without having to do anything... like it does in GO SMS for instance. That means you get the icon, and the text is read out...

Any thoughts on that, or were you just being sarcastic?

you're looknig at the wrong option in settings. I dont have one in front of me to check, but try some of the other settings available.

Thanks, never crossed my mind..:) Why is this not under SMS settings? :) Sure, it's a privacy issue but it falls under Text message notification settings if you ask me..
