Accessories Steinheil Crystal Clear Protector Review

I dont know. The more I use this thing, the less Im liking it. Sometimes it feels like there is so much extra drag and other times its smooth as butter.

Well if it's different sometimes I am guessing you are maybe using more pressure than other times, otherwise how would it feel different from one time to the next?

I use very light pressure and its very smooth, however just trying it now if you do press harder which you dont need to do I guess I can feel it would have more drag, but wouldnt that be the same if it was just glass?

Yea I think its just me. Ill get used to it. Im assuming that once these things are on, you cant remove and re-apply, right? Mine doesnt seem as good as I originally thought and its at a slight angle which is causing the edge to line up too close to the edge of the phone which looks to also be causing my bubble issue by the joystick.

I guess Ill use my extra tonight and see if I do a better job lol.

Well I saw that you can lift up a corner using scotch tape on the top so you dont touch the underside with your fingers, I dunno if this is just to lift up say a corner or the entire thing, I would give it a try, what do you have to lose fixing the one thats on there if you are going to try and fit a new one on anyway, although sounds like you would need to remove yours entirely to get it lined up perfect so you dont have issues it creeping up on edges and causing bubbles, its worth a shot to fix it.

Use a peice of scotch tape on both ends so you can lay it back down without touching either end, would be easier to line up again as well.

Just got my Crystal Clear in the mail and applied it.

My first attempt was slightly off-center so I had to try again. Then I got perfectly set, but found a small piece of dust that I knew would annoy me. So I took it off to re-apply, and of course..it falls face down on the floor. First one ruined in 5 min!

Luckily the 2nd one went on fine without any problems. I am very happy with this thing. You can barely even tell it's there- once I peeled off the 2nd vinyl cover, I had to closely inspect it just to make sure it was actually on there. It truly is crystal clear. The air bubbles were easy to remove using the squeegee that comes with it. But make sure you remove the air bubbles before removing the 2nd vinyl cover. This 2nd cover is what makes this better than screen protectors I've had in the past.

There is a little bit of finger drag, but I'm sure it will just take a couple of days to get used to it.

Well you always move squeegy towards outer edge so the air has the quickest exit route.

yea thats not working, i'm wondering if they go away by themselves after a while like the zagg. also did you squeegy before or after you took off the top plastic layer. the directions suck.

well i'm glad they sent 2 because i totally f'd up the first one. the second one went on easy as pie.

Okay. I just installed an anti finger print steinheil. I love the lack of fingerprints, but I don't like the how it makes the screen cloudy. Today I was lucky to snag a crystal clear. Does the crystal clear resist finger prints better than the naked screen? And anyone have any suggestions on how to take off this screen protector and save it. Perhaps take it off with scotch tape and place it on some waxed paper? I ruined one already because I forgot about the scotch tape trick to get it up!

Steinheil Crystal Clear Protector Review:

Pardon me if this has been stated.

Does this cover the ENTIRE screen? Or just the VISIBLE screen (if that makes sense)?

How long is cure time?

You used Windex? Was that recommended?

Please post Pic.

I see on site now that it is entire screen.

so far the regular screen is more fingerprint resistant than the crystal but i have barely used it too. its kinda sticky feeling but it is very nice to look at. i'm gonna order the anti finger print and put it on my wifes and see how it looks. also note to people about to install theirs: use your drivers license when installing it, the little squeegy sucked bad for me. it wasted one of my protectors.

Do the crystal clears have 2 layers to peel off or just one? That's why I wanted to save this anti finger print shield, in case the crystal clear is too sticky.

How is the finger print resistance? Do you have to unpeel one backing or two?

the actual screen protector is in between 2 backings, 1 is a little thicker than the other. after using it for a little while i think i will like it. right when i put it on it was kinda sticky but now that its been aired out a little its not so much. i'm still curious about the anti-fingerprint ones though.

thei finger prints are the same as the glass bascially. nothing a little rub down with a soft cloth wouldnt fix though. it doesnt bother me at all. i didn't buy the anti fingerprint one anyway so they are expected

there is the back that has the 'adhesive' and the front which i peeled off after the protector was on

The anti finger print makes the screen look frosted. It's nothing terrible, but the screen is one of the things that makes the Incredible so attractive. The screen is very smooth and actually better than the plain old screen. I would swap with someone, but I ruined my first one trying to peel it up. It is only one sided. Not sandwiched between two layers.

Well I have officially botched both. Im no good at applying these things I guess lol.

Does verizon or best buy apply screen protectors? Id really like to have one but I obviously lack the required brain power that goes into sticking a thin sheet of plastic over a screen.

I bet you could get someone at either place to do it. It's just a matter of finding someone who is cool.

You peel say 1/3 of the sticky side off and get it lined up and then squeegy it down pulling the rest of the sticky side off as you go.

Leaving the protective top layer on you work out all the bubbles as best you can, then pull off the top layer when you think you pretty much got it, then work out the smallest of defects, should hardly be any at this point at all.

If you keep trying to get a bubble out and it wont go, it is most likely a dust spec and you would need to lift it up using some scotch tape on the side that faces toward you, don't touch the sticky side with your fingers ... perhaps reach under with a pair of very clean tweezers then reapply that spot using squeegy.

Hm, I might have to get one of these. I had to pick up a Zagg until something better came out to keep my screen protected. The fail sponge they make you apply liquid with disintegrated while I was applying liquid and stuck to the adhesive so I have a bunch of black spots on my protector. Will never buy another one of those again.
