ok downloaded cache mate and cleaned the cache, then I rebooted but titu still stopped unexpectedly and wants me to force close
You have to be rooted or you wouldn't be able to use Cache Mate.

it dont have the running services part like the ascend does, just shows what apps are under manage applications and how big the file is for each app, now I can open each app and it say for each app manage space, uninstall, clear cache or force close.....I know thats not much help
, I might just need to take it to the cricket store and see if they can get it back to the factory os

Btw...Fancy Widget Pro and GO SMS work very well with that Launcher as well.
I have to confess I don't understand what you mean about the kernel needing for overclocking. I use SetCPU and have mine OCed to 600Mhz max and 245Mhz min. It works fine for me.
Back to kernel...as I understand it and I could have misinterpreted, but to me the kernel is like the 'brain' of the O/S. I mean it's like the kernel gives the orders. LOL
Guess I have some homework to do here. Thanks for the challenging question. I'll come back later with a better answer.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and smartphones i have been reading posts for a while and decided to join. I have a quick question sorry if its been asked i read through some threads to see if i could find the answer and i couldn't if its been answered sorry i must have missed it. Im temporary rooted and have titanium backup(free). I have the ascend with metropcs. Haven't uninstalled any bloatware apps yet. Question: if i uninstall bloatware apps on temporary root and my phone is turned off and turnd back on will the apps show up? Will i have to uninstall them again or are they gone for good? Sorry if its been answered but i appreciate any reply,thanks!

Hi Chum! And welcome to the Ascend Forum. Your question as to if you are temporary rooted and you remove bloatware apps with Titanium Backup will they come back if you turn your phone off and then back on...that is a very good question, actually.
The answer is no they will not come back unless you restore them. I don't even know why there is a temporary root available when you can undo the permanent root if you want. I suppose it serves some purpose I am unaware of. (obviously LOL)
But no...when you uninstall them they will stay uninstalled. I hope this answers your question. You probably already know this, but if you have Titanium Pro you can freeze them. It make them much easier to restore if you should ever have a need or desire to do so.

Ok thanks so much for the reply! I don't care to restore them since i can't use the 30 day return policy cuz i kept the same number which is dumb of them but yeah they can stay gone! Lol. Thanks again!!

lol yeah i know, was over on the cricket facebook page earlier,well last night reading all of it, and yes I did feel sorry for him. If they would have worried more out of helping each other on the Zio forum as they do here at this one, they might of had a little fun with the phone while waiting on the update, not making it as bad of a wait for the update.............anyway got some help on that cricket Zio that I got my wife, from over at xda forum, a guy named mattix724 got me headed in the right direction, and now its got the 2.2 update on it and working great......might have to play around with it for a little bit before I give it to her now
, thats if I can get away with it lol. Thanks for your help Jazz, your the greatest

I'm so glad you got it working Vent! Thanks for letting us know. And yeah...those Zio people on Facebook could learn a lot from each other if they would only come here to help one another instead of just posting negative stuff on the Facebook fanpage. Im wondering where the nvidia processor is going for the android? They came out like a month ago and said they had the latest greatest, I forgot the tech specs, lol

ok i followed all the directions and everything ran smoothly, but when i decided 2 uninstall youtube i ran in2 a problem. Now I am unable to view videos on my phone on youtube.......help me please...

First I want to say thank you to Jazz. I did DL go launcher. Now how do I change the font? And one more question when I manage my apps and clear the cache is it safe to clear the data or does that mess something up?

I hear the samsung indulge galaxy is very nice but you should enjoy your Ascend a lot more now! Also...it may be time for you to install ICARUS!!! LOLSorry this happened to you. Did you try to restore it yet? You may have to download the app from the market now.
You're very welcome, Redd! You change the font in GO Launcher by clicking on 'menu' and then 'preferences'. The I think you either choose 'appearance' or 'display settings'. Check out the new cool animations too! They are SOOO awesome!!

I just joined today after following the root instructions. The phone is rooted by I am having a problem with TiBu Pro. I purchased the app and installed it, but it isn't in my phone and it won't open from the market. I have rebooted and taken the battery out like another thread suggested.

ok so home from work now. i was up till about 4 am tweaking my ascend. i was reading the favorite apps thread when i seen a few good reviews about the handscent app. checked into it, read all of the reviews, looked great, so i DLed. now before i go any further, it should be a reminder to all who consider rooting to think about changing the ROM. the reason i say that is becuase when you flash the rom it deletes everything you have. so if you dont want to do rom and just root, your fine, but if you root and rom later, all of the programs that you DLed to root and help manage the system are now lost and you must DLthem all over again. just a lil helpful reminder to save you the hassle of 30 mins to an hour or two, depending on if you have weefee or not ( wifi )(lol). i had no idea a process of rom flash was wiping everything on the phone, i was smart enough to back up my SD card to computer but everything was lost lol. so back to handscend sms. after rooting and DLing handscend, it took about an hour to configure the settings to my liking. then i flashed roms and had to get all of my apps back, titu, overclock app, lockout security ( my preffered over juice, no time to explain read into it and u might like it, hi tec mag give it a 5 stars over all the others ) so after i got all my apps back i DLed handscent all over again and started the 1 hours of tweaking it to my liking. with a sigh of reliefe i gave it a test run and with icarus, for some reason, it will not send out my messages to anybody. i can get the messages and it shows on my phone that im sending them, but on my alt. optimus M, the messages never come through. are there any other roms besides icarus that you can use that are a lil more app friendly? also the icarus has alot of forcloses but thats due to cache, i have both cache programs that were recommended and it keeps them in line.

I have heard of this happening before. Can you go back to the market and redownload it? Be sure after you do to pull down your notification bar at the top left and click on it to open it up. That's the only way I know to get it. It should show up in your app drawer after that. Let us know what happens please and good luck!

I downgraded from an Evo due to my budget, so you can imagine the ascend feels reaaaaaaly slow to me. I'll get over it. You can't beat the price on metro.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. All of my other apps that have been purchased have an "open" option in market. The TiBu app has one, but it is ghosted. I just can't find it anywhere. Is there a function to search the phone?

Youtube should be taken off that list as the same thing happened to me. I unfroze it from Titanium and now it works fine.
I've never uninstalled an app so someone else will need to chime in.

I went back and downloaded the free version and froze the bloatware. I still don't know what happened to the paid version. I guess I'll get my money back. I also downloaded LauncherPro Plus and Juice Defender. I really like the messages widget for LP.

You might try googling how to find the Titanium Backup app after purchasing it from the market. I don't know of a search on the phone for stuff IN the phone. LOL Maybe there's an app for that! hahaha If you find it let us know!
The list is for what is safe to take off that will not interfere with your performance. If someone has removed youtube app they can still watch youtubes by pulling it up on their browser. As for uninstalling...watching the video on the OP is still the best way to know how to uninstall and restore.
TiBu comes with a key now so maybe if you look at your email notification when you bought it you might find something there. LauncherPro is a great launcher and Juice Defender is terrific too. Looks like you are making some very good decisions with your new apps.
